What's in the Box

These S/B Chevy Clipster headers are for 1964-87 GM A*, F* and G-Body cars and fit many street rod applications with uni-body front clip suspensions. Clipster headers use longer primaries than Tight Tucks, yet shorter than full length headers. Collectors exit toward the rear of the engine compartment providing excellent ground clearance on "slammed" applications as well as clearing steering and suspension components. These ceramic coated headers provide superior performance and durability.

1-5/8" primaries and 3" collectors. Fits straight or angle plug heads.

Application

Applications include, but not limited to:

  • 1967-1981 Camaro
  • 1964-1981 Chevelle, Malibu
  • 1964-1988 El Camino
  • 1968-1979 Nova
  • 1970-1988 Monte Carlo

Notes

  1. Works with angle plug heads.
  2. Will not work with D-port heads.
  3. May interfere with mechanical clutch linkage (substitute headers 930-0109).
  4. If fitting on an early A-Body, #5 primary tube may interfere with steering shaft. Some 'massaging' may be required.
  5. Will not fit with Saginaw Close Ratio 825 Steering Box.
  6. Does not fit 1967-69 Camaro with A/C.
  7. Will fit Detroit Speed & Engineering front subframes with rack and pinion steering.
  8. Armor Hot Coating (AHC) is a heat resistant, ceramic coating applied to the outside of the header. This coating will reflect heat, which helps retain more heat within the header tube while simultaneously speeding up the exhaust flow. Not only will this coating help you make more horsepower, it also keeps your headers rust-free, looking great, and lasting longer (when properly maintained).  If you are looking for a show-quality finish for your headers, this is it! Our AHC will withstand exhaust temperatures of up to 1300Ëš F.

Warranties

AHC Warning: AHC coatings will burn and be damaged at exhaust temperatures over 1300 degrees. A lean fuel mixture can generate exhaust temperatures exceeding 1700-1900 degrees. If the coating is damaged due to a lean condition, the coating will not be warranted, but can be recoated for a fee.

Good headers do not fit

I put the headers on for ground clearance and they look great with fair quality until I tried to install the plugs. These are advertised to fit angle plug heads - they do not. Even with a 0.375 spacer and expensive shorty plugs, the headers will not clear the plugs. I have Edelbrock aluminum Victor Jr heads in a 70 Camaro so nothing strange here. I may have to put some pretty good size dents in the headers to gain clearance. The finish is good where tou can see. However-areas behind other pipes were not coated and will lead to premature rusting.
No, I would not recommend this product.

Please note that the fitment of the angle plug application is per the manufacturer which is probably based off of a cast iron angle plug head application. The fitment is a generality and when it comes to headers, the fitment is a guess and trial / error in some combinations. If headers are kept in a new condition, they are returnable when determined that they will not fit the application.

This header has a round port on it but it is large enough to work just fine on stock SBC cylinder heads. Nearly every SBC head made is a square or rectangular shaped port.

AHC stands for Armored Hot Coating. AHC is dual in apperance compared to chrome but will not discolor like chrome. Chrome is for show car only and AHC is for a driver. AHC will stand up to temperature upto 1300 degrees. It will not polich like chrome

These headers work on many applications including the A, F, and G body GM cars. This would include the early 67-69 Camaro, and also the 64 through the mid 70’s Chevelles, Lemans, Cutlas, etc.

Thanks for you question on our Clipster style headers. On headers in a race car we never guarantee a fit. I can give you some helpful measurements to check for fitment on you car. A-width of header at widest point from exhaust port. 4” B-height of header from top of flange to lowest point 16” C-length of header from front of flange to collector 25” If you take these measurements it should give you a good idea to where it will place the headers in case there is an issue with clearance.

The same header in Plain finish has spark plug special requirements.This AHC Coated version does not. Please confirm if this header will work with standard spark plugs.

This header has the exact same issues with spark plug clearance as 9300108 has. It is the exact same header but is then AHC coated.

Chrome Warning: Due to a revised chroming process brought on by recent EPA regulations and high labor costs, today's chrome is not the quality of days gone by. Be Aware: Exhaust components which are chrome plated are now much more susceptible to blueing, blistering, peeling & corrosion. No warranty or returns on chrome exhaust items once them have been installed.

NOTE: Stainless header tubing when exposed to exhaust temperature will cause the finish to change color which will vary with the exhaust temperature. Please note that the finish of the header when the engine is started, will change to a light champagne color to a darker gold finish and in some instance may even turn dark blue or purple. This can be polished back out when utilizing Blue-away or Simi-chrome polish, but please note that when the headers reach running temperature again, they will immediately change color.
