Great in a tight spot

October 14, 2014
I had very little room for a shock mount on the new axles for my trailer. These were the only mounting bolts that I found to fit my situation. They are well made and much less bulky that other mounts.
Pros:
  • Compact
  • Sturdy
Yes, I recommend this product.

Is the sleeve/collar that I see on this shock mount threaded and meant to be welded onto something?

No, the collar is not threaded, nor is it designed to be welded into position. The collar serves two purposes, primarily the collar acts as an additional support shoulder to further strengthen its mounting point by distributing more area to the mounting surface. Secondly, it can be used as a spacer for a narrow shock eyelet.

No 1/4" of thread engagement is not enough. You need at least the amount of threads to completely engage the nut.

This shock mount bolt is a good possibility for your Monte Carlo. The thread size is 1/2" and the shank is 5/8" and is made for a bushing width of 1 1/4". Take some measurements of your shock bushing to be certain this will work.
