I chose the R3 because it met the requirements of the racing series and because it is independent of the belt system. That means, as an instructor, I can wear it in student vehicles in addition to my own race car.

seems that the portion of the support which runs down your spine would fit between your back and the seat. this either seems like it would be uncomfortable or that the seat would need to be adapted to accept this. Can you help clarify this?

This restraint system is very thin, it comes with a u-shaped foam pad to mount in seat that sits around restraint for added comfort. Restraint does fit to bottom of shoulder blades.
