I used this breather on my hot rod to maintain the vintage look. I installed the cap on the garage sale cast aluminum covers that I orderd at the same time. Looking at the engine in the car makes you think you are looking at a page in the 1950 Hod Rod Magazine. I could not ask for a better part to keep the theme going on my car. Thanks Speedway for a great selection of parts.
NEEDED TO COMPLETE OLD HOT ROD LOOK

rubber seams to be soild do you have to cut the end off. would these work with chrome oil filler tubes, push on style

The grommets on the push-in style breathers are indeed provided closed on the end. We do this so that the same grommet can be used as a “plug” in situations where a valve cover has a hole that the customer does not wish to use, and because many customers like the LOOK of an open breather but don’t like the oily mess that occurs on an engine with excessive crankcase pressure. To make the grommet functional, just cut a slit or hole in the end of it and install it as normal. The grommet you mention will work on the valve cover end of the push-in extension tube (such as our 910-17098) but the cap for the extension tube still needs to be the twist-in style (such as our 550-2061 or the 550-2062).
