Overall good product, one problem noted

August 31, 2014
I purchased an identical Powermaster starter (also from Speedway) almost five years ago to the day. I was very pleased with it until a couple months ago. The solenoid started acting up (i.e, occasionally just click when you turned the ignition key). Before everyone assumes I had a bad ground, heat issues or weak battery, let me explain. I had good multiple battery grounds. In fact, one of the grounds is a direct cable from the negative battery terminal to one of the bolts used to connect the starter to the engine block. The battery is kept on a Battery Tender and I have Lakester headers which exit out the side of the motor (nowhere near the starter). The clincher was, if I would tap the solenoid with a plastic-head hammer, it would engage. I was disappointed that a product (solenoid) made in the USA would only last five years; particularly on a street rod that's driven only 500 miles a year. Anyway, since I was satisfied with the Powermaster starter until the solenoid issue, I ordered this new one. I've had it on the vehicle for a couple weeks now and it works great. Here's my real issue with this product - If you have to use the supplied shim (for clocking or space requirements) that goes between the starter block and the starter, they are connected with two semi-shallow depth 3mm hex head screws that are torqued to 50in/lbs. This is not a job for a standard simple hex wrench. Placing the starter in a vice and using a 3mm socket hex on a ratchet wrench using lots of pressure is the only way to keep from rounding out the screw heads. I've shown this to several of my street/hot rod friends. All agree this is a fine example of poor engineering. A bigger and deeper size hex head is all that's required to alleviate lots of customer frustration and bad publicity regarding an otherwise good product.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Yes this straight pattern starter will bolt right onto your block and work fine since your block is drilled and tapped for the straight across pattern.

Starter number 91067450 is for a big and small block Chevy engines with 153 tooth flywheel. Chevy did not use a 154 tooth flywheel so I would guess that you have a 153 tooth.
