What's in the Box

Info

Offenhauser Triple Carb intake manifolds provide a nostalgic appearance while equalizing fuel distribution to all cylinders, improving both performance and economy. With this lightweight cast aluminum manifold, your old "Stovebolt" will be more responsive across the RPM range. Use with two "big base" carburetors (2-15/16" bolt centers) typical of 1954-1962 Chevys.

  • Fits 235-261 Chevy 6-cylinders
  • 1950-59 engines w/ PowerGlide
  • 1953-59 engines w/ Manual Transmission

Included linkage kit is "non-progressive," meaning all three carbs operate at the same time.

Notes

Note: This intake manifold is designed to bolt up to the heat box on your original exhaust manifold. Exhaust heat must be routed to the bottom of the intake to help keep the fuel droplets suspended in the air/fuel mixture, providing better cold weather performance and overall driveability.

If using our split manifolds or exhaust headers, you must still supply heat to the bottom of intake using a heat box that you fabricate. This can be done by routing either exhaust heat or engine coolant to the bottom of the intake via copper or steel tubing.

Specs

  • Carburetor Port Diameter:   1.700"
  • Intake Port Diameter:  1.550"
  • Carb Bolt Center-to-Center:  2-15/16"

Using this manifold on a recently built 235 ci motor in my 50 Chevy Fleetline. Everything needed is there, fuel line and linkage.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Part number 5601409 These intakes will work on the 235 Chevy six from 1950 thru 1962. If in an original application such as a 1959 thru 1962 Biscayne or Impala hood clearance on the front carb will be an issue. If on a truck there is sufficient hood clearance and no problems are encountered. If using the engine in a different application bolt up and function will be fine.

This intake manifold will fit your 1961 235 inline six cylinder engine but if the engine is in a 1961 Chevy car there will be insufficient hood clearance for the front carb and air cleaner.

The Carburetor that will fit this manifold is the large bore Rochester that was typically used on the GM 235 in line six applications.

I have this intake on my engine and the rear carb will not clear the fire wall. The truck is a 1956 Chevy 3100. Any suggestions beside cutting the firewall to make it fit.

It sounds like you have about three options in your case. Cut the firewall to clear, move the engine to clear, or use a different intake manifold (likely a dual carb version). Sorry to hear of the situation you are in as there is no easy way out.

Will this outperform my 2 carb Offenhauser set up with out compromising too much in mpg? Should the heat be supplied to the entire intake or just the center like the original?

The difference in performance from a 2 carb to a 3 carb will likely be fairly small. These intakes are more about the show than the go honestly.

'59 was the first year for the lower stance and flatter hood and many air cleaner assemblies will not allow hood clearance. A shorter or drop base air cleaner would need to be used.

This intake will work on the 216 thru 261 inline six cylinders but if used on 59 and later cars there will likely be hood clearance issues with the front carb and air cleaner.
