Not sure as advertised

April 09, 2016
Grade 8 bolt and stud materials I've used all look the same. I do not know what the grade is on the studs. So far the studs are working however, the washer are horrible. Out of the 48, 24 have split and I replaced with grade 8. I have not re-torqued the heads according to the installation instructions and I am fearful of what will happen with the washers.
Pros:
  • Grade 8 Bolts
Cons:
  • Unknown Stud Material
No, I would not recommend this product.

need some work

October 22, 2015
strange looking for grade 8 studs. Used on Offy 400 heads. The long studs need to be a quarter of and inch longer on the fine thread end as they are not long enough to get a full nut, Also the fit of the nut and stud could be a little tighter. The short studs could be a little shorter on the fine thread end.
No, I would not recommend this product.

Stud thread diameter is small

June 03, 2015
Complete set at a good price. Great for aluminum heads at 40 lbs torque Stud thread diameter was small (0.430 vs 0.437 best at 0.434 or 5). Had to helicoil half the holes to get tight fit in the block because heads required 65 lbs torque.
Pros:
  • Nice Finish
  • Wshers And Nuts Included
  • Complete Set
Cons:
  • Fits Loose In Block
  • Must Use Helicoils - Fit
  • Don't Torque Over 55 Lbs
  • Stud Thread Diameter 430
Yes, I recommend this product.

Part number 56013953 In most cases the studs in this kit will require shortening to match the heads being used. They are normally long enough to be used with the offset alternator bracket number 5601093.

The 10 bottom studs on each side are shorter. Watch them wobble as you thread them in and see that you will probably need to install them with the head already on as they are probably not straight!!! Good luck!!!

Part # 56013953 The studs in this kit will need to be cut to the length dictated by the heads you are using. In some cases with cast iron heads there are up to 4 different stud lengths necessary. Between the cast heads and the aluminum heads from different manufacturers the stud length required changes. We caution the installer to torque to the manufacturers of the heads used to the proper torque values and sequence.

The '39 to '48 stud kit has studs 3 1/4" long with 1/2" of 7/16"-14 threads and 1 13/16" of 7/16"-20 threads. The '49 to '53 kit has 28 studs 3 1/4" long and 20 studs 3" long which have the same thread sizes and lengths.

The stud kit installed as stated in the instructions. Question is where do you get the (3) longer studs to mount the oil filter tank on the left side head. This is not something of the shelf?

We apologize but do not offer the oil filter tank or the studs that normally come with the tank kit. We do however offer 91667912 stud kit for the offset generator bracket that would cover your needs. Verify length needed to use with your oil tank is 4 1/2" prior to ordering.

With the studs not lining up with the holes in the head it is doubtful the studs are the culprit. It is very possible that the bolt holes are not perfectly square in the block. Normally if you have a few off slightly from alignment with the head a plastic headed hammer or dead blow hammer can be used to tweak them just enough so they will work correctly.

The correct stud length for use with the Edelbrock 1115 49-53 heads would be 20 studs @ 2-9/16" and 28 studs @ 3-1/8". This Offy stud kit uses studs that are 3" and 3-1/4" long. This kit would work, but the studs will be longer than needed which would not allow for acorn nut covers to be used. I would suggest ARP stud kit p/n 101-1544102 and that will fit perfectly.
