RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT:

Fits original generators only

November 06, 2013
Beware, this offset mount does not accept Powergen units. The diameter of the Powqergen housing is larger than the original generators, therefore when the Powergen is placed in the cradle, it only contacts at a narrow point each side. Fitting the strap and tightening would damage the Powergen body in my opinion.
Pros:
  • fits original generators
Cons:
  • does not fit powergen units
No, I would not recommend this product.

This Powergen alternator bracket comes with a special offset water neck to allow clearance to route the hose differently.

I was wondering if this bracket will work with the Powermaster Generator/Alternators for the 49-53 flatheads? I saw a kit with the offset bracket and a thermostat housing that said it didn't, was wondering if this one was different.

This bracket will work with the 49-53 Powermaster alternators. It will accept the retaining strap from the original center bracket and the alternator portion. Once mounted with the retaining strap loosely installed you can move the alternator foreward or backward for proper belt alignment and then tighten the retaining nut.

Chrome 1946-1953 Flathead Alternator Bracket
(Part #91667909)

Just because you've got a vintage Flathead Ford V8 in your ride doesn't mean you're stuck with the antiquated charging system. Switching to a tried-and-true GM 1-wire alternator is a great upgrade for any Flathead-equipped vehicle with a 12-volt electrical system.

  • Bracket fits 1946-1953 V-8 engines
  • Heavy-duty steel construction w/ chrome plating
  • Designed to work with the two narrow-belt drive system typical of late '50-'53 Ford/Mercury passenger cars
  • Will not work with single wide belts unless the alternator is modified (see Notes)

Edelbrock 1146 1949-53 Flathead Offset Generator Bracket
(Part #3251146)

This bracket offsets the generator to the passenger side (RH) on '49-'53 Ford Flathead V8s. A special water neck is included that helps to re-route the hose around the relocated generator. This bracket only fits a stock Ford generator, NOT a Powegen.

Fits most intakes.
