What's in the Box

Info

The Nostalgia T frame is engineered to provide the ultimate in economy and ease of assembly. It features the same spring-behind-axle front suspension as the Budget T, but includes front shock/headlight mounts. The coilover rear suspension uses traditional-style radius rods and a panhard bar, with all necessary mounts welded in place. If you're looking for an affordable, well-engineered T-bucket chassis requiring only basic mechanical skills to assemble, the Nostalgia T is for you!

Shown with optional rearend and engine mounts installed. This part number does not include a rear axle housing or engine/transmission mounts (as pictured). If you wish to add these items to your chassis, simply purchase these items along with your frame kit.

All of our T kits are also available with chrome suspension.  This option includes chrome plated: front and rear hairpins, rear coilovers, front axle, front leaf spring, front shocks, steering arms, tie rod, drag link, and related hardware.

This product requires a 3-4 week build time.

Notes

To complete the package to a rolling chassis you will need the front brakes and hubs along with the wheels and tires. In the rear you will need a complete housing and if the housing and axles are ordered along with the frame package the brackets are welded onto the housing free of charge. You will also need the rear brakes in either drum or disc and the desired wheels and tires. The steering gear is in place and you can mount a tube to the input shaft or configure a preferred way to turn the steering gear in put to make it a rolling and turning chassis. It normally comes loosely assembled and painting and bolting together to specified torque is up to the customer.

  • 1-1/2 x 3" rectangular steel tube frame with 102" wheelbase
  • 3" O.D. round tube front crossmember
  • Spring-behind front suspension with 4" drop tube axle and hairpin radius rods

'23 T frame

October 20, 2014
Overall, well made, with a few exceptions. It didn't come marked for the body mount holes, which may or may not be a good thing. Steering heim joint was frozen from too much heat when welded. If you order it with a trans mount, check it for proper positioning. Had to cut it make trans mount fit. I will order another one in the future.
Cons:
  • trans mount welded crooked
Yes, I recommend this product.

Nostalgia "T" Bucket

September 27, 2013
I'm building a 23 Nostalgia "T" and I can tell you for sure the engineers did their homework when they designed this kit, It's going to gether very well. I'm using a doner 1968 302 Ford and C4 tranny and I had Speedway set the frame up for this ahead of delivery and engine and and tranny fit perfect.
Pros:
  • comes with a free "t" bucket assembly manual
  • all the welds are superb
Yes, I recommend this product.

The front perch mount is angled and we use a 7” dropped trans cross member. It is all programmed into our jig prior to welding. The option of different tire sizes does come into play and one common configuration is 155R 15 front and 275/60 15 in the rear and another is 560-15 front and 820-15 rear. To get things to match common mount length for the coil overs is 12 3/8" to 12 ½”.

We apologize but currently do not have the motor cross member location for the Ford engine. We do have it for the Chevy and from the front of the front tube to the center of the cross member is 22”. One measurement that may help is the front of the tube to the front of the firewall is 42” and from that location the Ford motor you are using will dictate the cross member location along with the mounts you are using.

The frame on our T bucket kit number 7151200 and the others would hold the weight of a 429 but the dimensions of the frame Will NOT. Length from the firewall to radiator would need to be modified and motor mounts on the narrow chassis would likely be an issue. It would be up to the builder for modification and fabrication of the necessary changes.

Thinking of useing a modified 1966 vw bug body on this frame. If you used a standard t bucket body on this frame what would the measurement from fire wall to center of rear axle be? Trying to determine if body will fit, less front end.

On the standard 23 Nostalgia T bucket frame kit from the front of the firewall to the center of the rear axle is approximately 54-55” for comparison to your body requirements.

Depends on what you order it with, I ordered front disc brakes on mine so after I put my rear end in I put the front end all together and I could have put wheels on it and takin it off the jack stands if I wanted to.

If I order a frame kit I would want sbc motor mount installed, trans mount for a power glide trans but I will install and everything else installed except anything to do with the rear suspension but send all the related parts so I can use what I need for the 9" ford rear end and ladder bars that I already have. When it comes to spindles do you have front brake kits with Chevy bolt pattern for either one and what are the differences between the Ford and the Chevy spindles. The rear end I am going to use is a 9" Ford with Moser axles and drum brakes set up for Chevy wheel bolt pattern along with the 32" ladder bars. Also do I save any money since I will install some components myself and to save the shipping charges can I pick it up myself when ready since I am only about an hour or so away?

We can add SBC engine and transmission mounts for you, that is option part number 715500. The Powerglide transmission is the same length and mount location as a short tail shaft TH350 so the transmission mount will work great for you. The rear suspension and brackets will come with the kit including the 32" rear radius rods (27" front radius rods). You will need to weld everything to your rear end when you get it. As for spindles and brakes, the Chevy spindles have the ability to use a 9 1/4" rotor and the Ford spindles are only available with an 11" rotor. Both are available with 5 on 4 3/4" wheel bolt pattern. You can certainly pick up the kit here in Lincoln once it is ready. Typical lead time for these kits is 2 to 3 weeks.

If you choose the Chevy spindles and buy our brake package it comes with 9 1/4" rotors from a Mustang II front end adapted to the Chevy spindles via the bearing and seal kit. If you run the 11" brakes with the Chevy bolt pattern the rotor is 73-77 midsize GM and for the Ford pattern the Rotor is from 1975-80 Ford Granada and again with the appropriate bearings to work on the Chevy modified spindles.

We apologize for the inconvenience but when ordered at the same time the 9" rear does get the lower radius rod/shock mount brackets along with the large tab for the panhard bar welded on. This is all done at the same time as the frame is setting in the jig in order to get the correct dimensions and pinion angle. The kit comes with the brackets and tab when it is ordered without the rear end option and up to the builder to weld on where needed. Any other variation would need to be verified thru the shop and not common practice.
