If you have an aftermarket cross member in your truck and the passenger side mounting bracket is slotted the power rack will go right in place using the other end of the slot on the passenger side. If you have an original cross member then you will need to also get the offset bushings number 91034342 as the power rack has ½” shorter center to center mounting dimensions. The input shaft to the power rack is also ¾ x 36 spline as opposed to manual rack with 9/16"x 26 spline. Also you may want to check the thread size of your rack extensions. This power rack uses rack extensions such as 91034346 which have 25mm x 1.25 thread size. Your rack extensions may have a different thread size.

The manual version will bolt right up to a 74 Mustang crossmember. The power version will require offset mounting bushings 91034342 in order for it to be used on a stock 74 Mustang crossmember.

No this will not fit your 1997 Mustang. It fits 1982 to 1988 Thunderbird and can also be retrofitted to 1974 to 1978 Mustang. Sorry I do not have a replacement rack and pinion for your '97 Mustang.

Added width. How much width does the outer tie rods add to the OAW? What is the bolt size for the bushing? I currently have a unit that has holes for a 5/8" bolt and no bushings. The new unit would be a replacement and I'm trying to minimize the modifications.

The tie rod ends will add 1 ½”+ per side for a total width of 48 1/8+ and in many cases the threads on the rack can be cut down to decrease the overall width. The I.D. of the bushing sleeve is .66" so your 5/8” bolt should work. The O.D. of the bushing is 1.32 on the smaller end plus the flange that goes between the rack and the mount.

Your power steering pump will work just fine with this rack but you man need to use a flow valve such as 91032923 if the steering is effortless and twitchy.

The power rack number 91034340-POW is NOT a direct bolt in to replace a front steer Mustang II rack and pinion. Mount centers on this rack are 15 ½ which can be compensated for by using the offset bushings 91034342. The input shaft is different as it is ¾ x 36 spline as compared to the manual rack with 9/16 x 26 spline input. Your GM pump should work fine with the 82-88 T-bird rack and pinion.

The Mustang II manual and T-bird power rack have different mount centers but many cross members have a slotted mount on the passenger side. A manual has 16” center to center whereas the power has 15 ½” . We do offer offset bushings under number 91034342 to remedy the situation and this is a front steer rack meaning it sets ahead of the cross member.

On your 40 coupe if you have an aftermarket cross member the passenger side mounting hole for the rack is slotted for the different mount centers. If you have an OEM cross member then you will need offset rack bushings number 91034342. 91034340-POW---power rack 9101023 x 2 –rack spacers 91034316 x 2---tie rod ends or re use your existing 6174835—braided stainless hose set OR 91032535---hose kit in black rubber 91667920—power steering pump bracket in black or chrome 91032908---power steering pump in black or chrome 91032916 –aluminum pulley for short water pump 91015480—triple groove aluminum pulley for crank 91032236—U-joint for the power rack and there are variations available as this one is to ¾” round shaft for pinning or welding on Other than power steering fluid this should handle the swap and then have an alignment done.
