I have a traditional 1923 T hot rod. There is a 9 1/2" rotor on the spindle already. It has a steering plate mounted to the backing plate ears on the steering side. It has a tie rod plate bolted on the passenger side. Will this kit allow the mounting of these parts? How do I know if the king pins are the same as my axle eyes?Chuck

This kit mounts the OEM style Mustang caliper and retaining bracket between the spindle and the rotor. On our website is an actual of photo of the kit installed. You would need longer bolts for retention of your existing steering arms and also there is a possibility that the steering arms may require spacing inward to clear the calipers. In some cases on the early hot rods the calipers are actually mounted ahead of the axle for additional steering component clearance.
Another kit that may be of interest utilizes GM calipers and a flat mounting bracket that also mounts between the spindle and the rotor. Still leaving room for steering arms and if mounted ahead of the axle would leave the entire spindle clear for steering components. Part number for this kit is 91031955 or 91031956.

These Mustang II brake kits have 9 ¼” diameter rotors and fit on the Modified 1949-54 Chevy car spindles. With the spacing of the “C” brackets this kit will not properly mount on the modified and machined truck spindles. We do offer kits that will work on the 41-59 pickup spindles under part number 91031953 or 91031954. There is substantial modification to the spindle required. A sleeve/adapter is welded to the spindle for the inner seal, inner bearing area is machined down, overall length of the spindle is shortened and then the area for the outer bearing is machined into the spindle. The end is rethreaded and drilled for the cotter pin.
An easier solution to a disc brake conversion on the pickups is simply purchasing kit number 91031916 and this kit will not require alteration or machining to your spindle.
