Very easy to install

September 26, 2013
Installed on a 1969 Dodge Charger with a 440 cid with a MSD Electronic distributer and a blaster coil, New msd ignition wires...Took a total of 4 hours to install because of having to custom make the wires but other than that fairly simple and worked awesome when complety finished!!
Yes, I recommend this product.

The wiring needed comes with this ignition box. MSD harness part number is 5478861 if you want to order an extra HEI harness to connect an MSD box.

Claim engine MAY use MSD #8728 rev-control with any rpm chip. No unapproved or additional ignition accessories allowed. All components must be out of reach of driver, but with rev-control easily accessible facing up or out for inspection. 12 volt ignition system and OEM HEI distributor only. The 6AL box is not legal for Northern Sportmod

(Part #5476462)

The 6 BTM cd ignition is ideal for engines with a turbo or supercharger. Not only will the engine benefit from MSDs full power CD sparks, but there is also an adjustable boost/timing retard circuit to prevent detonation. When your turbo or blower forces the air/fuel mixture into the engine, the cylinder pressure inside the combustion chamber increases. The result is a great increase in power but this can also lead to detonation that can result in severe engine damage. The 6 BTM CDI lets you dial away detonation by retarding the timing in relation to the boost pressure.A dash mounted control knob lets you adjust the amount of timing retard. It can be adjusted from 0 degrees per pound of boost to 3 degrees per pound (up to 15 degrees). The 6 BTM also shares the Soft Touch Rev Control of the 6AL Ignition for overrev protection. The BTM is supplied with rubber shock mounts and rpm modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm.

  • Multiple spark, capacitive discharge ignition control
  • Retard the ignition timing 1 degrees-3 degrees per pound of boost, maximum of 15 degrees, with dash mounted adjustable control knob
  • Multiple sparks for 20° of crankshaft rotation
  • Works on 12 - 18 volt electrical system
  • Accepts breaker points, amplifier and magnetic pickup trigger inputs
  • 470 primary voltage output to coil
  • 110 millijoules per spark up to 15,000 RPM
  • Built-in Soft Touch Rev Control is adjustable with RPM Modules
  • Programmable for 4, 6, or 8-cylinders by cutting red/blue wire loops
  • Supplied with rubber shock mounts
  • Supplied with 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 & 8,000 RPM Module
  • CARB E.O. Approved

MSD 8732 2-Step Rev Control for Digital 6AL
(Part #5478732)
Since the new Digital 6AL Ignition uses rotary dials to adjust the rev limiter, our engineers were tasked with developing a 2-Step Rev Control that could be added to give racers the ability to switch to a low rpm limit to use on the starting line. The new 2-Step is also digitally controlled and connects to the Digital 6ALs gray tach output wire. There are two easy to read rotary dials that let you set the launch rpm in 100 rpm increments. There is an activation wire that connects to the transbrake, a clutch switch or to the line-lock to activate the low rpm limit. When that switch is released, the low rpm limit is turned off and the car launches hard!
