Q & A

What's in the Box

We can machine YOUR 1949-54 Chevy passenger car spindles to receive our disc brake conversions.

Note:  Measure carefully to insure you have the correct spindle. Many older GM spindles look similar. Then ship them to us with your brake kit order.

Are you able to machine my 1950 chevy half ton spindles like the car spindles? Iam using a Wilwood drag lite disc kit. It is made for a 1975 chevy camaro.

There are several issues that come into play when mixing and matching brake components. The Wilwood kit we offer to fit the modified 49-54 Chevy car spindles replaces the standard 73-77 mid size GM rotor including the Camaro in question. However, the inner and outer races are changed to obtain correct alignment with the caliper. If the truck spindles were altered to match the car spindle specifications the same changes may be required. Second alternative would be to simply use the bearing and seal adapter for the truck spindles to accept the 73-77 Camaro rotor or the Wilwood version. The inner bearing and race, seal, and possibly outer bearing will also need to be changed for the swap. You may want to visit with Wilwood direct for suggestions of easiest conversion. The other problem is truck spindle has a wider bolt spacing for brake bracket than the car spindle.
