Q & A

What's in the Box

  • Enhanced tri-metal copper lead construction with nickel barrier and SecureBond adhesion
  • Unique SecureBond adhesion process for superior stability between the top and intermediate layers
  • 15% - 30% greater load capacity than traditional bearings
  • Mains and rods are narrowed for large radius crankshafts
  • Greater rod bearing height improves bearing-to-bore contact/heat transfer and reduces spin potential at high RPM
  • 0.0005" metallurgically enhanced and hardened performance overlay withstands greater loads and better resists surface fatigue
  • Mains are 1/2 grooved for uncompromised lower shell load capacity

Application

  • High-load, long-duration racing such as circle track, off-road, off-shore, and others that require steel crankshafts

We start with a Clevite 77 # MS909P-STD standard size main bearing and clearance chamfer cut it to fit large fillet radius cranks. Fits 1969-Up small block Chevy 350 c.i. crankshafts.

Clevite H-Series Small Block Chevy Main Bearings

Clevite's H-Series was developed primarily for use in NASCAR type racing, but they are suitable for all types of competition engines. These sets are specifically for 1969-Up 302-305-327-350 S/B Chevy.

  • Use H-series bearings with crankshafts that have oversize fillets and where engines run in the medium to high RPM range.
  • H-Series bearings should be used if contact patterns obtained with P-series parts are too narrow. Contact pattern should ideally cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the bearing surface.
  • If you aren't sure which type of performance bearing to start with, the H-Series will be your best choice.

Clevite P-Series 1969-Up Small Block Chevy Main Bearings

Not to be confused with standard "passenger" car bearings, Clevite's P-Series is their oldest line of premium high performance bearings. These sets are specifically for 302-305-327-350 S/B Chevy "Large Journal" engines built from 1969-Up (with 2.100" rod journal).

  • Use P-Series rod bearings where extremely high RPM’s cause severe rod bore close-in.
  • Use P-Series main bearings where higher eccentricity is desired to narrow bearing contact patterns and to provide increased oiling to rod bearings.

Note: Will not work with 400 c.i. V-8.

Red Line 80312 Engine Assembly Lube, 4 Oz.

Red Line Oil Assembly Lube is not designed to be the cheapest – it's built to be the best. It has three times greater film-strength than conventional black Molybdenum Disulfide lubricants. Provides excellent rust and corrosion protection. Stays put and supplies a high film strength for protection. Excellent for crankshaft installation. Can be used safely with all metals, including bearings. Can be used with petroleum or synthetic oils.

  • Prepares potential wear surface and prevents metal contact before adequate lubrication can be supplied
  • Will not plug filters after initial engine start-up, unlike other assembly lubes
  • Provides 3x greater film strength than conventional black Molybdenum Disulfide greases
  • Excellent rust and corrosion inhibitor, allows for long-term storage
  • For use on camshafts, lifters, pushrods, piston skirts, main and rod bearings, and bolt threads
  • Do not use on exhaust bolts or other high temperature bolts which require an anti-seize
  • Recommended and used by top camshaft and drivetrain manufacturers
