What's in the Box

Info

Streamline the engine compartment in your street rod or muscle car by eliminating excess wires with this King Chrome 1-wire alternator. Based on the GM Delco-Remy 10SI alternators, these 65-amp units are perfect for vehicles with few electical accessories. King Chrome alternator housings are hand polished to a high luster prior to applying the show-quality triple chrome finish.

This one wire alternator simply needs hooked up direct to the main battery lead or power source. Then the internal regulator picks up the available current and kicks the alternator into the charge mode at the pre-set voltage.

  • Hand polished, triple chrome plated finish
  • Quick, easy hook-up with supplied instructions
  • Internally-regulated GM 10SI style alternator
  • Attaches to all popular GM alternator brackets
  • Direct replacement for most 1969-85 GM cars and light trucks
  • Excellent idle output

Yes you are correct. You simply run a single wire from the charging post of the alternator to the positive side of the battery and the alternator wiring is complete.

I have two in different vehicles. One on a 600 rpm start; other on 1000. In both cases no problems.

Alternators put out maximum power at very low engine RPM. As long as you have a 7" or larger pulley driving this alternator you will see max power output around 1000 engine RPM.

No this alternator does not come with a pigtail. You simply need a ring terminal to connect to the charge post of this alternator.

So, do you, or can you run the charge wire through the stock ammeter in the dash , or run straight to the battery ? This is going into a '37 Ford. If it goes straight to the battery, how do you connect an ammeter ?

Normally with an ammeter the main wire which is 10 gauge which runs from the alternator to the starter solenoid where the battery lead also connects. A wire for the ammeter is spliced into this wire , thru the gauge, and back to the solenoid.

This is a GM Style Alternator, and I'm sorry it won't fit a Mopar Application without Fabricating new Bracket to fit that style of Alternator.

Your 10Si alternator is likely a 3 wire meaning you have a heavy wire to the battery terminal starter and then a plug in with two small wires. This alternator is simply a one wire and you double plug in can be ignored or removed. One was the exciter wire from the inside switch and the other a pigtail from the battery wire terminal.
