The Isky Max-1 is the original "3/4 race" cam grind. It is the best camshaft we have found for a majority of flathead V8-powered street rods.

  • 1949-1953 flathead Ford and Mercury V8
  • Can be used on 1948 and earlier engines if 1949 and later timing cover is used with late-style distributor

It is always recommended by the manufacturer to replace lifters when installing a new camshaft. We offer lifter part #4508502.

Base timing should be 2 degrees BTDC. Manifold vacuum should be close to stock (approx 17” tuned correctly)

This camshaft is for use with mechanical solid lifters. We always suggest using new lifters on a new camshaft otherwise accelerated wear can result. The lifters are part number 4508502.
