Low cost alternative.

In my 31 Ford sedan I'm running a 1996 Gen 6 454 BBC which has no provision for a fuel pump. This is a cruiser, not a bruiser, so a lower pressure fuel pump is all that's needed and this pump fit the bill. No need for a gauge and a regulator like the high pressure pump which saved money too.
Pros:
  • low pressure
  • Low Cost
  • works out of the box w/ edelbrock 1806
Cons:
  • none that i see.
Yes, I recommend this product.

No this pump does not include a fuel filter. We offer many options of filters. Here are a few examples: 91011772, 91011733, or 91011770.

does this have to be mounted below or at the bottom level of the fuel tank, I know it will pump enough fuel for my mild SBC 350, just the location is the question. I hate to mount it outside the trunk as we have a lot of stones on our roads. I currently have an electric Mitsubishi pump mounted and it works just fine in the mid tank level in the trunk. I also run the same pump in above the tank position in my old in line six hot rod and have never had any problem. The pump is very similar to this in design

It is not required to mount this pump below the fuel level but we do recommend mounting it as low as possible to get the best performance and longevity from the pump.

Part number 42512801 is the Holley red fuel pump that offers up to 97 gallon per hour free flow or 71 GPH at 4 psi and should suffice the needs of your Hemi with two Edelbrock carburetors for street and drag useage. If you run a pump with more flow then you would also need an inline regulator to avoid fuel going past the needle and seat and flooding the engine.

the picture shows this in a vertical position. I need to lay mine flat, or horizonal, Will this work in that position? My fuel tank is above the frame, my fuel pump is underneath the floor boards.

The best location for mounting any electric fuel pump is the rear of the vehicle. The inlet and outlet of the pump must be mounted below the lowest point of the tank. This is necessary to allow for an adequate fuel supply. The pump is designed to push fuel and not designed to suck fuel out of the tank. It needs to be gravity-fed or if it’s pulling from the top of the tank, it needs to develop a siphon feed to the pump. The pump should be mounted on the chassis, in a vertical position with the pump motor on top. Avoid exposure of the pump and fuel lines to moving parts and to any hot areas, such as the exhaust manifold. The pump should not be mounted in a closed area, such as the vehicle’s trunk. Follow the steps below for mounting the pump.

Yes you could, as long as your engine requires 7 psi or less fuel pressure.

Can this pump be used with a top outlet tank? Pump will be mounted at or lower than bottom of tank.

This pump is designed to push fuel and not pull. If using a top outlet tank you will need to develope a siphon feed to pump

Part # 42512801 Depending on the condition of your Holley 94 carburetors you will probably still need a low pressure regulator. We suggest part number 56058500 or 42712804.

Will this pump work to pump diesel fuel? If not, explain please. Thanks This RV has a 3208 CAT diesel. Fuel tank is 32' in the rear and now just uses the transfer pump in the injection pump to pull fuel from that distance. A Holley Red would make bleeding the filters easy and assist if I ever run out of fuel in the 150 gallon tank. Several of the members of the Wanderlodge Owner's Group have used this pump for that purpose, but was curious what the spec on type of fuel is according to Holley before I purchase it. Thanks in advance.

Holley designed and intended for this fuel pump to be used with gasoline. They do not recommend it for any other fuel or fluid. It's possible that it could work but Holley doesn't recommend it.
