The carburetor came with a nice instruction booklet. I am running a flat-o-matic on my flathead and the Holley web site had the added spring / bracket for the kick down and the throttle spring / bracket. The separately purchased 4" riser is needed to raise the carb above the water hoses is ugly. I believe the Speedway manifold would look much better because the riser is part of the manifold.

The 390 Holley 4 barrel will not work on your 77 Ford inline 4.9 six cylinder. You will need an adapter or a different intake manifold and we apologize but we do not offer those for your application.

We apologize but the 390 Four barrel number 4258007 is not available with a manual choke. You may want to contact Holley direct or your local parts store for the conversion of the choke.

I have never had a problem using adapters with spread bore or square bore carbs. Just make sure there are no vacuum leaks.

I want the best / easiest fitment, and wonder what kind of intake, spacer, bolts and gaskets etc. I will need. (I see that it is "some issues" with the one or the other intake, - like the speedway-intake: - does not accept stock fuel pump.) It seems to me that I have to go for the Offy or Edelbrock intake, but I can`t figure out which one will be the best / easiest fit. - What do you recomend..? Thank you!

Here is a list of parts to get you a good start. We sell more Offenhauser intakes for a 4 barrel than the other two so we will figure the Offy: 5601068-- 4 barrel intake 1351935B—adapter 5606091—riser or you could run manual choke and shorten the linkage to run a 1” spacer. 4258007—390 carburetor 56011801—Intake gasket 550-55—one carb gasket 91303900—intake bolt kit 13560—carb stud kit 54564920—carb linkage bushings 4911000U—cable kit 491SRK4000—bracket and spring kit. Then you will need an air cleaner of your choice and modify your existing pedal assembly or a pedal such as part number 91655013 or an equivalent.

These 390 CFM Holley carburetors are ideal for the small cubic inch engines and can be used on a dual four barrel intake on the same smaller cubic inch engines. You will need to verify carb centers on an existing manifold to verify clearance between the carburetors and also that it accepts the later square pattern four barrel carburetors. If using on an older or vintage intake that required the older Carter WCAFB or Rochester small base four barrel you will need the appropriate adapter. Vacuum secondaries make for smooth operation throughout the rpm range.
