This is a great carb for smallblocks with an automatic transmission. Classic looks and performance, low maintenance, keep it clean with a good quality filter and enjoy trouble - free cruising for years.

I would buy this carburetor again

put the carb. on a 72 Blazer with a 350 in it. It had the kick down linkage and plenty of vaccum ports.

You need to adjust the float so that you get a small trickle of fuel out of the sight plug in the fuel bowl. Also you will need to adjust the idle mixture screws for the best idle.

I have 302 ,on 1965 mustang I don't drive it much .do the cab get stuck when you leave sit too long. When I start my car after sitting for a while it seem to starght for gas.do I need to rebult ?

Probably will need a cleaning and gasket kit. Todays' fuel will not store well, most rodders will use a Sta-bil product with a full tank of fuel. Add before a cruise to ensure that the treated fuel is in the carb bowls. Make sure the secondaries are opened on your drive so that the rear bowl gets filled with the fuel also.

Our Holley 600 cfm carburetor is designed for the budget minded enthusiasts and for use on basically stock small cubic inch engines. Use on a mild 302 Ford should be more than sufficient. Problems that occur when the vehicle sits for a lengthy time period can be several. The fuel can actually evaporate from the float bowl requiring the fuel pump to fill up the fuel bowl prior to getting fuel to the engine. An electric pump helps alleviate some of the time to do so. A mechanical pump will first have to pick up the fuel and get it to the carburetor which requires several rotations of the engine to actuate the pump enough times. The fuel could also be leaking past the seals in the carburetor and ending up in the crankcase oil. Simple checking the oil for the smell of fuel in the oil is a basic test. Mechanical fuel pumps having problems and allowing the fuel to drain back from the carb and into the tank would be another possibility. Simple fuel availability test is to remove the air cleaner prior to starting procedure, hold the choke open, and pump the accelerator while looking down into the primary throttle bores. If there is fuel in the float bowl the accelerator pump will be squirting fuel into the throttle bores. If not there is no fuel available as a result of one of the scenarios mentioned above.

It's on the small size for a big block, throttle response will be very good but the motor will want more air for max performance. For those cubes look at the 750 cfm line with vacuum secondaries with the auto trans.
