Looking for a low cost way to add rear disc brakes to your Ford  8.8" or 9" equipped hot rod, without searching the junk yards? Look no further. This Ford Racing rear disc brake kit includes OE quality single-piston calipers, 11.8" vented rotors, E-coated caliper mounting bracket, and all mounting components. Plus, the E-coated backing plate features an integral parking brake for a convenient install.

Kit is designed for the late model Ford 8.8" truck and 9" (New Style Big Ford housing with 3.15 bearings, 2.5" offset) rear axles. Will NOT work with Mustang 8.8" axle.

Rotors are drilled for 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. See Notes tab for important install info.

Will Not Work On 15" or 16" Wheels.

  1. Wheel spacers not recommended for use with brake kit.
  2. Does NOT fit Mustang 8.8" axle.
  3. Due to large 11.8" diameter rotor and floating caliper design, most production and aftermarket 15" wheels will NOT fit.
  • 5 x 4.5" diameter passenger car bolt pattern with 2.780" center hub
  • Fits housings with:
    • 2" x 3.56" housing flange bolt pattern
    • Big 3.15" diameter bearing
    • 2.5" brake gap offset (housing flange-to-axle shaft flange)

    The tailmount, floor mount and cable operated transmission shifters do not offer the capability of mounting the transmount hand brake assemblies.  For these type of transmission shifters, the floor mounted hand brake assembly should be utilized.

    Transmount E-Brake Cables are designed for use with Transmount Emergency Hand Brakes (at right) and includes bracket for mounting cables to hand brake. Kit comes equipped with quality one-piece aluminum adjusters and aluminum ferrule to eliminate fraying of stainless housing. Outer housing is designed with specially extruded liner for extended life of the cable. Stainless steel inner cable resists moisture. 
    Design allows rear end backing plate fittings to be removed without removing brake cables. Lokar cables also feature adjustable cable lock and clevis. Kit includes two 8 foot black outer housings that “U-Cut-to-Fit”­.
    *NOTE*: If using these cables with Ford Explorer-style (such as our 910-31938), Wilwood, or late model Corvette rear disc brakes with internal shoe-type emergency brake, you will need our nut kit listed 916-41021 and E-Brake clevis 491-81FC (at right).

    This Lokar Floor Mount Emergency Hand Brake features a chrome plated steel e brake handle and is designed after the automotive industry standards. The ratchet cut gear plate and lock are heat treated for strength and safety. Special feature includes 4-point mounting capabilities for floor mount or side mounting for custom applications. 
    Comes complete with clevis for installation with Lokar Emergency Brake Cables, Lokar # EC-80FU, Speedway Motors # 491-80FU suggested below. Cables are sold separately.

    Lokar Clevis Kits adapt Lokar Emergency Brake Cable kits to Ford Explorer and Wilwood Explorer-style rear disc brakes with internal drum hubs (like our 910-31938). Also works with late Corvette rear disc brakes with internal shoe-type parking brake (requires some file-fitting).
    Note: Clevis is included in kit 491-81FU. Ford Explorer rear disc brakes will need a pair of 916-41021 nuts to secure the cable ends to the thick cast iron OEM brackets.
