Q & A

What's in the Box

Our T-5 throw out bearing is for GM-style Borg-Warner T-5 transmissions using an OEM or OEM replacement clutch. The base of the T-5 bearing is machined to fit the bearing retainer of the T-5 transmission. The compressed thickness is 1.516" and 2.065" fully extended giving .549" of travel. The inner diameter of the throw out bearing is 1.379".

It is known to fit many T-5 transmissions, but does not fit Ford versions. Use 3/4" bore clutch master cylinder.

Note: T/O bearing includes a 3/8" and 5/16" threaded retainer stud. If your T-5 makes use of a metric threaded front retainer bolt, to install this unit will require an installer to source a metric threaded stud or modified bolt as metric threaded hardware is not included.

Notes

  1. The fittings are AN 4 male for the "feed" and the "bleed" lines. Both fittings are tapped internally to accept the bleeder.
  2. To build your own external bleeder for this bearing, purchase (1) each of the following parts:
  • 835-2200063 (1/8"BLEEDER)
  • 617-4025 (AN4 to 1/8"female)
  • 91031842-4 (12" AN 4 line)

Use another clutch method

November 01, 2014
Ordered and paid full price for the latest one of these. Received a "Garage Sale" item so was not happy. The box was torn open, baggies of spacers torn open and greasy fingerprints all over them. Instructions had clearly been opened and read by a grease monkey them returned. Did not fit my S10 T5 - was too short a throw. Needed excessive spacers to fit and leaked from the get go. Ordered the seal kit for my previous one which was the stock style and it worked fine but also leaked constantly. Ended up rebuilding the old TOB again an put in before I sold the car. "New" one went in the pile of parts with the car. Impossible to bleed well, trie the "External Bleeder hose kit" and it blew the side out of the line after three months. Use a stock linkage or a hydraulic slave on a bracket outside the bell housing over this item.
Pros:
  • good in a tight area where no room for stock link
Cons:
  • impossible to keep leak free
  • hard to access to bleed
No, I would not recommend this product.

perfect for auto to manual conversions

February 07, 2010
With the stock GM slave and clutch fork setup i would have had to track down custom headers or heavily modify mine, or even worse go back to manifolds. This hydraulic throwout bearing came in handy for my auto to manual swap in my GM G-body, and a stock third generation F-Body master cylinder will provide enough pump for full clutch travel.
Yes, I recommend this product.

There are so many different Borg Warner Transmission it is hard to give you a good answer. It would be best if you could check the dimensions with your transmission. A Ford Borg Warner will be different than a Chevy. I will list the dimensions below if you could check them with your transmission to see what you have. · Compressed dimension is 1.516" · Extended dimension is 2.065" back to front · Fits 1.379" transmission collar

This hydraulic throw out bearing works for many T5 transmissions with the 1.379 input of the bearing to match the input of the transmission. This version is a shorter bearing being only 1.52" compressed and the back side is machined to fit the bearing retainer plate on the transmission. It must be used with the stock type diaphragm pressure plate. Many applications can use the longer version to get more travel under number 91025610 with a 1.375 I.D. and travel of .68". Compressed it is 1.71" as compared to this T-5 bearing which is shorter at 1.52".

GM Stock Clutch Hydraulic Throwout Bearing
(Part #91025610)

Stock clutch hydraulic throwout bearing for stock-style 3-speed and 4-speed Chevy clutches only. Install simply by replacing one bolt from the front of the transmission with one of the provided studs, then shim to fit. Use 3/4" bore master cylinder.

This bearing is made much smaller than the racing version so that it will fit behind the "thicker" stock style clutches. This redesigned new housing is much cleaner as it has no boss on the body. Plus, this design also has a retainer on it to prevent over extension and seal damage.

Simply hold the tool up to the bellhousing and push the rod in until it touches the pressure plate fingers. Then turn the tool around and place it up to the transmission, and you can check your clearance.

Made of heavy steel construction with a black oxide finish, so this tool won't wear out or break. Numbers are laser etched.
