GM Performance Parts believes that everyone should be able to afford a high quality GM V-8 without going broke. New 350 Crate Motor

August 10, 2015
This was a replacement for a blown original 350 in our 72 GMC 3/4 ton pickup. Called a couple times with questions and everyone I talked to knew the product and helped me avoid an expensive mistake. My intake & headers bolted right up. The entire motor was on sale and cost what a pair of high end replacement heads would have cost, so we saved a lot of time and money. I do wish there was an expedited delivery option for truck-delivery orders, though.
Pros:
  • great deal
  • Knowledgeable Staff
  • Drop-in Replacement
Cons:
  • 10 Day Truck Delivery
Yes, I recommend this product.

The timing needs to be set at 10 degrees (btdc) with the vacuum advanced blocked and plugged at 650 rpms. This will give you 32 degrees of total advance at wide open throttle. The hei vacuum advance canister should remain unhooked as the motor is designed to run off the internal centrifugal advance to achieve the correct timing curve.

No this engine will not work with the TBI fuel injection on your '92 pickup. This engine requires an intake manifold for '55 to '86 SBC. Sorry I do not have the correct engine to fit your application.

Just bought a 21 ft boat that had the 290 horse long block installed. I see it is not recommended for marine use but it is what is in the boat. Thank you Computech automotive and marine. On to the question. Raw water cooled 140 to 150 degrees. What type of issues will this cause or should I run a hotter thermostat?

Sorry we do not have any experience using these engines in marine applications. We are in the hot rod and racing industry and sell these engines primarily to those markets. You should consult an expert in the marine industry.

Yes this engine will fit in your FIrebird and bolt up to your transmission as long as the car was originally equipped with a V8 engine. This engine is typically outfitted with a carburetor. You will need to do some wiring changes to your car to convert to carburetor.
