This kit is primarily for hot rod use but in some cases it has been used to upgrade to disc brakes. If your E-brake cable has the ball on the end where it drops in the arm it may be possible to use as opposed to the cable end that has more of a clevis style. The brake calipers and pads used are derived from a 79 to 85 Cadillac Eldorado rear end.

This rear brake kit works on most 7.5 GM rear ends. You can easily verify the compliance by looking at the housing end where it bolts to the backing plate. The normal 10 bolt has 4 bolts that retain the backing plate to the housing flange. This kit is for housing ends with two bolts at the bottom on 2.6875 center to center and ONE bolt way above the housing tube. There is a photo of the axle identification in our catalog for reference. If your housing has 4 bolts retaining the backing plate it will take kit number 91031919 or 31924

91031928 fits the GM 10 bolt with the 3 bolt backing plates and if you have a 10 bolt with 4 bolts holding the backing plate to the housing then you need kit 91031924. The first kit requires the use of 16" disc brake compatible wheels for caliper clearance and if you have staggered shocks then you will need to order two left calipers and one will go ahead of the axle and the other side will go behind the axle for shock clearance if the drivers side shock is ahead of the axle.

If your car has the 7.5" 10bolt rear end then this kit would bolt up. The stock cables will hook up to the caliper and should have enough length but we do not have a way to tell that for sure. We mainly use this kit on street rod applications with universal cut to fit cables.

No, you would not need to change the master cylinder, but you will need to change the proportioning valve. We recommend an adjustable one such as part #910-31358.
