Q & A

What's in the Box

If your General Motors G-Body race or street car uses “stock” trailing arms, you need to take a look at this part! By using a softer elastomer bushing material in the upper control arms, you can significantly increase suspension travel and bite. This construction will satisfy many rule requirements requiring “rubber only” bushings.

Fits GM G-Body Metric chassis (1978-88 Monte Carlo, Regal, etc.)

IMCA approved for Southern Sport Mods only.

this product is not that good

July 10, 2014
installed after 2 races the bushings fell apart...the rubber inserts fell apart, allowing rear end to move too much causing tires to rub the frame...not happy with product...
Pros:
  • if they stay togerther they work great
Cons:
  • they cause damage when they come apart
No, I would not recommend this product.

Really helps but doesn't last long

I installed these on my race car. They provided excellent bite off the corner, but only lasted three races before they needed replaced. I can't see sPending that much money every week.
Pros:
  • Gives excellent bite
No, I would not recommend this product.

G-Body Soft Control Arm Bushings make yo

August 04, 2014
We saved money by buying the Speedway brand. The quality is excellent and they work perfectly. One caution for those of you that have never worked with soft bushings. Make sure that ALL other components of your rear suspension are completely secured before attaching the softies. We put them in first during construction and ripped one by over extending it.
Pros:
  • top quality for less!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I would not recommend the bushings unless you can replace them every other race. They do not hold up for more than 2-3 races. I for one will not purchase them again cause they just do not last long enough to keep the cost of the car down.
Pros:
  • good bite
Cons:
  • too expensive to keep replacing
  • rubber does not hold up to high horse power engine
No, I would not recommend this product.

This Bushing, part # 91634046 has a 1.850" OD at the small end and a 1.925" OD at the larger end where it tapers up. The steel tube for the bolt is 2.312" long. Most GM midsize rear control arms from 1965 - 1988 had a diameter of 1.917" and a bolt length of 2" using a 1/2" diameter bolt. You may have to measure your rear arms to be sure they will fit. 1975 would be a Gen II, 1978 -1980 is a Gen III, and 1981-1988 a Gen IV.

Would you use this bushing in the upper trailing arm or use them in the upper rearend bushing? Or would you use in all 4 locations in the upper trailing arm and upper rearend mount? So buy 2 or 4?
