I'm running a stock 1940 flathead will the alternator still charge the battery at idle speed of 600 rpm? the current pulley I have is too big and does not charge at all at idle. the stock crankshaft pulley is about 5" Thanks for any help.

This is a standard dimension pulley and works on most flathead conversions. With the use of an alternator it depends on the manufacturer for rpm kick on. In some cases it may be necessary to snap the throttle on initial start up to trigger the alternator charging circuit. If running an original generator many of these controlled by the voltage regulator would not charge at a slow idle speed.
