What's in the Box

Info

Steering shafts that are just plain looking look kind of silly with those shiny stainless steel U-joints. Our polished, stainless steel, double D steering shaft would be more compatible. We offer steering shafts in 18", 22", and 36" cut to fit lengths.

Note: These steering shafts WILL NOT work on Unisteer u-joints part numbers 910-300 and 910-230. We recommend using Sweet Mfg. joints listed below.

Why will these shafts not work with the unisteer u-joints #910300 and 910230? Is it just that the shafts must be notched for the retaining bolt, because that's not a problem for me?

We apologize, this steering shaft will not work with those u-joints. Those Unisteer u-joints are slightly oversized and will not tighten down on this polished stainless steel steering shaft.

This steering shaft will work with those u-joints. However, those u-joints contain a safety feature that requires the DD steering shaft to be notched for pinch bolt clearance. Once notched, the pinch bolt MUST be torqued to 45 ft/lbs to ensure a tight fit.

With regard to Charles's answer to my original question, that "the u-joints have a wide clearance and the 3/4" double D stainless steering shaft will not allow the u-joints to tighten down tighten down adequately." : Is there some reason why adding a rectangular scrap of beer can or some other expensive shim material will not allow a proper fitment to be obtained? Thanks for your help.

Using shims to tighten the fitment could be done, but we would not recommend it.
