What's in the Box

These "rams horn" cast iron manifolds were patterned off the 1962-63 327 Corvette but are not OEM remanufactured manifolds. They feature the big 2-1/2" diameter outlets and have provisions to accept original alternator type brackets.

These headers are copies of the original headers on the 62-63 Corvettes and can be used on almost any small block application. The cast in brackets are for the water tank on the drivers side and generator bracket on the passenger side. These can be cut off and smoothed per customers preference. These are a square port configuration with 1-5/8” top to bottom and also side to side. Compare to your head port size for compatibility.

Notes

  1. Both the left and right sides include a mounting boss on the front of the manifold. If it is not required or needed, it can be machined off if necessary by the end user / installer.
  2. Ports measure 1-5/16” side to side and top to bottom Has sufficient material for porting/matching to your head.
  3. If using on original '62-'63 Corvette:
    • Generator mounts on passenger side (right side, 4.5" bolt centers)
    • Water tank mounts on drivers side (left side, 3.5" bolt centers)

These manifolds will bolt onto the Chevy small block engines up until the advent of the LS series engines in 1999. They are copy of the stock 62-63 Corvettes where the passenger side manifold is cast with the boss for the generator and the drivers side is cast with the mounting boss for the water tank. This is reverse of the later years and the possibility of adapting to different accessories such as the A/C compressor would be up to the installer. These are specific to the 62-63 Corvette for accessory mounting.  No issues with high compression engines have been noted.

These manifolds will work with the standard port small block Chevy engines. Fit to your application can be verified by some basic measurements as follows: * A” dimension from the head to outer edge of the collector flange is 4-1/32” * Center of head mounting bolt to bottom of collector flange is 4-3/16” * Center of head mounting bolt to highest point of manifold is 2-3/4” * Right Manifold: Accessory bolt boss center-to-center is 4.5" * Left Manifold: Accessory bolt boss center-to-center is 3.5" The outlet is directly below the center two ports on the head. You will need to verify clearance on your steering and cross member for exhaust hook up.

These are still a good value the right side has an unneccessary alt bracket it may work for some people and is easily removed with sawsall and belt sanded.

Really only took a 1/2 hr. to sawsall off one of the alternater mounts, and grind/file finish. Why the casting vendor doesn't have one offered without the mount is beyond me-seems silly. Appear to be great quality, and some testing shows these are as good as tube headers.

These manifolds are great for a non-numbers matching build. They look stock, and flow better than the 2 inch manifolds. If you don't want the ground clearance and heat issues with headers, but want a better flowing exhaust, these are the manifolds to get. My only complaint is that the interior surface was a little rough for maximum flow, but they cleaned up nicely. Recommend graphite gaskets if you are bolting them to aluminum heads.

Do I need 2 left side manifolds? I have a 64 impala I'm doing a restomod on and would like to have oem looking manifolds. I realize the alternator mounts to the front of the left one, but would I want to get another left one to cut the bracket off of. That way it would be placed at the rear of the pass side and not be noticed as bad.

Yes you can certainly order a left side manifold and install it on the right side like you plan to. That way the area where you cut the bracket off will be less noticeable. Keep in mind that the bracket on this manifold will not exactly match the bracketry on your stock 1964 Impala. The Corvette had a different bracketry system. Some people will modify as needed to use the bracket on this Corvette manifold however.

There are variations in the clam shell mounts and other than the measurements offered we do not have a way to verify fit to your engine. Some customers have reported that the clam shell mounts require modification for clearance.

The corvette style exhaust manifolds will bolt upto your 283 but to help determine fit we offer the following measurements: Left side manifold - Header Dimension A : 4.00 " Overall Length : 20.25 " Overall Height : 6.50 " Center to Center : 3.50 " Collector Diameter : 2.50 " This is a OEM replacement right side manifold for the 1962-65 327 corvette, it has the provision to mount the water tank on the driver's side. Right side manifold - Header Dimension A : 4.0313 " Overall Length : 21.0 " Center to Center : 4.5 " Collector Diameter : 2.5 " Inlet Size : 1.3125 " This is a OEM replacement right side manifold for the 1962-65 327 corvette, it has the front bolt boss provision to mount the generator on the passenger side.

These manifolds will have clearance issue when used with the clam shell motor mounts on the block. We apologize for the inconvenience but currently Speedway does not offer a manifold or tight fit header that will clear the clam shell style mounts.

I just installed this on to a 1957 Belair four door and had about 1/8 of and inch to spare but had to loosen the steering box to get it in place. I have old steel heads on a 78 block so I think you are probably ok.

Part number 9300327 These manifolds fit stock port dimensions and mounting for the Small block Chevy. Your 350 straight plug should be covered. Fit in the 1956 needs to be verified and from the head surface to the furthest out point is 4” and from the center of the mounting bolts to the bottom of the collector is 4 3/16”. The collector is straight down from the center two ports on the head.
