Would not buy this product again.

Purchase this product to use on my street rod while at car shows to show off the interior. I took them out of box and first had to bend the rod to work on my suicide doors. That was not a problem and other buyers had to do same thing. The props come with three sets of different size nylon bushings and you need use the ones that will work with your car and I used the smallest diameter bushing. Now the problem with this product. When you change the nylon bushings for a different size you must remove the small end caps and install new ones which are included with kit. These end caps are cheaply made and will come off easily and possibly causing you to lose the end cap and the bushing will come off. The first time I installed the props on my doors and while removing one, the end cap came off and the cap and bushing fell behind my door panel. This is in my garage before I ever took it to a car show with these props. Now off came the door panel and I found the pieces and put everything back together. Went online to see if anyone else had the same problems and some buyers also complained about the end caps coming off. One buyer said he drilled 1/8 inch holes on end of rod and used cotter key instead of these end caps. We should not have to redesign these props in order to use them without worrying if the end caps will fall off. I would not buy this product again nor would I recommend it to anyone else. Speedway Motors has great products, this just isn't one of them.
No, I would not recommend this product.

Had to modify

June 18, 2013
First of all, I had to put the rods in a vise and take some of the angle out of the bends so they would align properly and work on a 1969 Camaro. Second, the little caps that suppose to hold the nylon bushings on the ends of the rods are a joke. They practacally fall off when you touch them. I had to drill tiny 1/8" holes in the ends of the rods and put tiny carter keys in them to keep the nylon bushings from coming off in the door latch mechanism. These modifications were no big issue but for the price I would expect this product to be usable straight out of the pack. All in all, these look great on my show car and function as intended after the minor mods. I would recommend these to any person that needs this type of device. Thanks
Pros:
  • Works Great
  • Looks Great
Cons:
  • very pricy
  • Had to modify
Yes, I recommend this product.

This door prop kit is meant to be used with a bear jaw latch or an equivalent OEM with a striker pin on the body and the jaw style latch in the door. It will not work with most of the early style OEM latches.

These door prop rods are universal and meant to work on a variety of different makes and models. They should work on just about anything.
