Excellent kit

This is a great kit. You can buy just the bracket and spacer kit, but be warned....you can not piece together you own complete kit any cheaper. This kit has a 5 lug bolt pattern, so you can match that upgraded rear end. It's not that hard to put a power brake booster on the firewall of AD trucks either, so plan on doing that too.

This is another great product from Speedway. I got this with the kingpin kit. But, what is up with the instructions? Come on Speedway - take 30 mins and put together some real instructions. The ones you ship with this item are completely useless and kind of insulting. I'd almost volunteer my own tech writeup to spare others the possible mistakes they could make trying to follow your "instructions."

This brake kit works great. I had no problem installing this kit on my 55 chevy pu. Everything was there good quality . The truck stops very good. The price was good and I got it quick. Best thing you can add to a straight axle.

I installed this kit on my 55 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup with stock front axle. It fit perfectly with new king pins installed at the same time. It also changed the bolt pattern to 5 on 4 3/4 to match the 69 Nova rear axle that I had installed previously. This kit, along with a Speedway dual reservior master cylinder installed under the floorboard, gave us modern disc brakes for safety while keeping the outside appearance stock. The truck will be built with "patina" in mind. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade their 55-59 Chevy/GMC pickup to disc brakes. Pic was taken shortly after dragging the truck home and before any restoration work had been started.

A great value for the price but---the instructions are a bit vague and the pictoral diagram should be at least twice the size with part numbers or letters for the inexperienced. If you haven't worked on brake systems in the past, proceed slowly and do only one side until completely done. Still a great poduct.

You must always seat bearing races completely to the stop machined into a hub/rotor. If the inner bearing adapter is a slip fit then we recommend using sleeve retainer to keep it in place.

The bolt pattern on the rotors is for the passenger car pattern of 5 on 4 ¾ and will not accept the pickup wheels. The stock master cylinder may supply the needed fluid but a proportioning valve such as 91031353 would be needed to the rear to limit the brake pressure. We always recommend a dual reservoir master cylinder for the safety factor over a single reservoir.

No it will not work on 1946 body style trucks. It is for the 1947 to1954 AD (Advanced Design) body style trucks and 1955 to 1959 trucks.

Kit number 91031916 will work on your half ton Chevy pickup without problems. Master cylinder and booster kits 9106001 or 9106005 with 1” bore master cylinders would be a great match up for your application and to get full power assist you will need 18-20 inches of vacuum at the booster. Large reservoir plumbs to the front disc brakes and if under the floor residual valves in both the front and rear lines are required. In the line to the rear an adjustable proportioning valve will be needed for correct braking and control.

Kit number 91031916 works on 1941-59 Chevy half ton pickups with out modification to the spindles. It comes with a bearing and seal adapter that is either heated and slid on or pressed onto the spindle for the necessary change in O.D. to the spindle for the seal and inner bearing. This kit will NOT work on a 53 passenger car spindle as there will be no place to bolt the steering arms.

Brake kit #91031916 does not require machining or modification to your original 1941-59 Chevy half ton spindles. The kit comes with a bearing and seal adapter that can be pressed on the spindles or simply heated to expand and then slid on the spindle.

No, this is not for 1946 body style trucks. It is for the 1947-1954 AD (Advanced Design) body style trucks and 1955-1959 trucks.

Disc brake conversion kit number 91031916 will work on 41-59 Chevy and GMC half ton pickup spindles only. It will not work on the ¾ or 1 ton pickup spindles. The kit does NOT require modification to the spindles and comes with a bearing and seal adapter to increase the O.D. of the inner spindle to use readily available bearings and seals.

No, it will not work on pre 1947 trucks. And it will not work on 3/4 ton trucks of any year.

Sorry, this kit will not work on a 3/4 ton and we currently do not offer a kit for 3/4 ton. The outer wheel bearing is .750" id. The inner bearing is 1.375" id. This kit is for 1947-1959 Chevy 1/2 ton truck spindles. The seal is for 2.00 diameter

I built and sold a 57 Chevy gasser frame using a 52 Chevy 1/2 ton front axle and this Speedway disc brake kit. I also used an 8" Chevy firewall mount dual reservior from Speedway to go with the disc brake kit. Everything bolted right up and worked perfectly.

Part number 91031916 On a 4 wheel disc set up a 1” bore is recommended for standard hydraulic brakes and a pedal ratio of 7 to 1 or greater. If you have the option of power brakes then a 1 1/8” bore master could be used to help limit pedal travel. Attempting to use the larger bore master without power assist would require more pedal pressure to stop the car than is normally available.
