Answer this question
A:
This kit is for a 1947 thru 1959 1/2 ton pickups, so if your project falls into this category our brake kit will be a direct bolt on using your existing spindles. It allows you to remove you 6 six lug drums and replace them with 5 lug disk brakes.

No, this kit is a true bolt-on using the factory holes on the 1/2 ton spindle. It is not designed to directly fit 3/4 ton spindles.

Answer this question
A:
This kit includes everything from hub face to hub face and now as an extra bonus Speedway is also including the black rubber brake hoses and the caliper fittings. On the frame end of the hoses it accepts the standard 3/16” brake line and is retained by the included line tabs and clips. To finish the system we suggest a dual reservoir master cylinder for the added safety feature and if mounting under the floor we suggest residual valves to maintain fluid in the lines and prevent drain back into the master cylinder. You will also need a proportioning valve in the line to the rear to cut down the pressure and eliminate pre mature rear wheel lockup during hard braking. For 2 psi residual valves we offer 91031345 for disc brakes and for drum brakes the 10 psi version is number 91031347. For the proportioning valve we have 91031353 as one of our options. If you need an under floor pedal assembly we offer 91031977 for the 47-54 and 91031973 for the 55-59 vintage. To complete the package with disc brakes we offer a master cylinder and booster package under part number 91031411 as one of many options. With more questions feel free to call Speedway and visit with a tech.
Q:
Can a Ford 5-on-4.5" bolt pattern rotor be substituted?
Or would the 5-on-4.75 rotors have to be redrilled?

Answer this question
A:
This brake kit for the 1947-59 Chevy half ton pickups currently is only available with the GM 5 on 4 ¾” bolt pattern. The rotors would need to be redrilled to the desired pattern by the customer. Another option may be brake kit number 91031954 which has the Ford 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern but this kit will require machining of your existing pickup spindles. The kit does come with the necessary instructions on the machining requirements or you can call and a tech will give you some guidelines on the extent of the modification required.
