What's in the Box

Info

Have you ever been to the races and heard how nasty the cams sound? COMP Cams has developed the Thumpr series of cams that give you every day drivability, but have that nasty race engine sound. Pick the cam that fits your application, add a set of Comp Cams hydraulic lifters and you will be the talk of the town.

High performance street, stock converter ok, best with 2000+ converter and gears. Choppy/thumping idle.

I would buy this cam again

If you want a true hot rod sound without dumping a bunch of time and money into valve train upgrades, gears, and stall converters, this is your cam. Awesome hot rod idle and performance. I love it and would run one in any of my builds.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Will stock springs be OK if I limit RPM? I want thump sound at low RPM only and never go over 3500 RPM I have stock 1967 283 in ratrod. Powerglide. Want to keep cost low. Don't care about extra power. I never race. Will keep RPM below 3500, will the Thumper make the rough cool sound?

This thumpr cam will have a choppy/thumping idle. Stock valve springs cannot be used. Requires a valve spring with following specs: Seat load - 105 @ 1.700" Open load - 273 @ 1.25 Rate - 370 Lbs./In.

This cam has a basic RPM range of 200-5800 and works best with a 2000+ converter. It should work fine with a 5 speed tranny as well

Yes this will allow the use of vacuum boosted power brakes. You may need to add a vacuum canister to help out with volume however since this camshaft will have close to the minimum amount of vacuum required to operate the brake booster.
