this is a very nasty cam!

I installed this cam in a 62 Ford Fairlane.302 boss engine bored 40 over,with roller timing gears, 600 carb,50,000 volts coil and billet electronic distributor,10 mm wires,and 3000stall converter.it will pull the front wheels off the ground!the cam sounds like a top fuel dragster cam, it is that radical! I love it and would recommend to anyone.

Powerband query. Hello, Will this cam be, in your opinion, a good match to a 302 with 180cc heads and a 75mm TB? I don't have really short gearing, and don't want it to be a dog down low. What do you think?

This cam is going to be a low on torque low in the RPM range. It would be much better suited to a 351 or larger cubic inch engine in the application that you are dealing with. In the Thumpr series cams the only one I would recommend is the Thumpr 282356004 but it will still be a little slow to build torque in a 302. The best camshaft for your setup would probably be Comps Hi Energy 282312182 especially if you are running a stock torque converter. Keep in mind that your 1989 Mustang with a 302 would have been originally equipped with a roller camshaft and these are flat tappet cams that we have discussed. Sorry at this time I do not offer a roller cam for your application.

No this camshaft is not correct for your 92 roller cam engine. Sorry I do not have the correct camshaft for your application.

In addition to the SBF cam Comp recommends their Pro Magnum lifters number 28286216 and the correct break in lube number 282159. In addition you may want to use the cam break in lube on the cam itself along with assembly lube.

You should be able to use stock pistons but you need to always check clearance when changing cam. May need to change valve springs, can not use stock springs. Need a seat pressure of 132 lbs. at 1.750” install height.
