What's in the Box

Info

  •  Billet 6061-T6 aluminum housing
  •  Hardened steel shaft
  •  Sealed ball bearing & sintered busing
  •  Extremely accurate electric pickup
  •  Mechanical advance only (no vacuum advance)
  •  Comes with drive gear installed

This is a "ready to run" distributor. It does not require a multi spark box.

Use coil number 447-45001 (1.5 OHM). If using with a lower resistance coil than 1.5 OHM, you must use a ballast resistor to achieve the 1.5 OHM rating.

Notes

Wiring:

  • Red: 12 volts positive
  • Brown: Ground
  • Green: To coil negative

Is this an HEI distributor? Hi, is this an HEI distributor with the coil built in or not? I'm confused, it says ready to run and then it is recommending a coil. And, I assume the green wire is for the tach, so then I assume the coil is built in?

By ready to run it means this electronic distributor does not require an ignition box. You will need a separate coil for this distributor. The tach wire from the distributor will need to be used instead of connecting your tach to the coil.

Yes this distributor will fit your 1956 235 six cylinder Chevy engine. You will need a coil such as 44745001 to use with this electronic distributor. This is a ready to run type of distributor and all of the electronics are inside the distributor - no ignition box is required.

This distributor will fit the inline 235 Cubic inch engines all the way to when they were discontinued in 1963 when the 230 and 250 engines came out. We also recommend the suggested coil number 44745001 for correct ohm resistance.

We apologize but the distributor for the Chevy 235-261 will not work in the GM (GMC) 292 or 302 six cylinders.
