Spider Caps

September 27, 2011
Unfornatley its one those times when I really feel like I should've spent my money on something else. These backing plates are made very cheaply with super thin metal. So if you tighten enough to keep your wheels from falling off you're probably going to tweak the backing plates out to the point where you can't attach the spider cap. Spend the extra money on some better ones.
Pros:
  • Attractive Design
No, I would not recommend this product.

Good Looks

Be ready to modify the mounting brakets. I had to step drill mine and use longer sheet metal screws. It is not a straight bolt on application. When it's all done, and you stop cursing, you'll be happy with the results.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Part number 91139621 These will work on the late model GM wheels with the 5 on 4 ¾” bolt pattern. They will not work on the later model GM wheels with 4 lug bolts or 6 lug bolts or with the truck or big car 5 on 5” bolt pattern. Check your wheel bolt pattern for fit verification.

Our part number: 91139620, bullet style hub covers are for most steel wheels with 4 1/2" ford bolt pattern. Part number: 911-39621, are for the 4 3/4" chevy bolt pattern. They should cover a 2" hub center.

The retainer plate on this kit fits under the lug nuts and then the cover attaches to the retaining plate. Below is a helpful Notation regarding fit: The manufacturer of the item used the same plate for the 4-1/2 version as is being used for the 4-3/4" version. Thus, some of the oval holes that the studs must go through need cut bigger for proper fit. A dremel tool would likely do the job very well.

Yes a basic open ended lug nut such as 63470087 are needed for these covers. Typically an acorn style lug nut (closed end) will be too long and not allow these covers to fit over them.
