The part worked great on my street rod
Used this item for both Electric Fuel Pump and one for the Electric fan.
This relay has an extra (fifth) wire for no apparent reason. The instruction sheet that comes with the relay is minimal, but the PDF file available with the online description is more helpful. It says the fifth wire is not normally used. So, why is it there? Looks tacky if wire is to be left dangling.
I have been looking for a fuel pump relay. Most rate relay harnesses at 30 amps then give you 12-14 gauge wire to hook it up. This has 10 gauge wire probably overkill but that's what I want.
I am an starting drag car builder( 1/8-1/4 strip) I use these relays for the fan, water pump, fuel pump and any other application where I need to tame the 12 volt input. They are used in conjunction with a six gang switch box with starter button. This was my second order from Speedway for this item. If I build a third car I will order another five or so 40 amp relays.

is this suitable as a headlight relay?I am wireing a 1946 gmc truck and would like to use a relay for the headlights instead of pulling all the current through a switch on the dash.

This relay could be used on almost any application to buffer the current draw on the switch. It will handle up to 40 amp on start up and if needed Speedway also offers 91050051 which will handle a 70 amp start up draw.
