Having an ideal about which shocks work with thisin discription would be really nice. I ended up at the local parts house searching shock boxes. Found some pretty blue ones I will have to paint.

Between the legs on part number 715150 or 715151 is 2.010 so most shocks would fit between the legs. Variation in shock eye width would make it necessary to space the shock as needed to keep it centered. The only hole that is on the mount that would accept a shock is the hole on the ear sticking out from the main body The other shock hole is too close to the top plate and modification to the mount would be required.

Part #91636005 is the stainless version of this shock mount. This is a shock mount only. We do offer part #715151-SS that is a headlight/shock mount. Any modification would be upto end user judgement

Yes typically the friction shock assembly will no longer be used when converting to hydraulic shocks. There is no longer any need for it. The only reason friction shocks are used at all these days is for the nostalgic look. Once modern shocks are installed the nostalgic look is lost so there is no use in having the friction shocks.

I am considering changing to a coil-over front suspension on my 1930 model A roadster. Will this clear a coil-over shock, would it be strong enough to support the weight?

These are not intended to be used for coil over applications. You will need to add bracing as necessary to support the vehicle weight if you plan to use these for a coil over suspension. You will need to space the shock away from the mount far enough for the spring to fit. I would personally fabricate a mount from scratch since it will likely be a similar amount of work and most likely be a cleaner look when done.
