The Blueprint engines commonly have the boss threaded for the pivot ball on mechanical linkage but not all do. If you order one of these engines you can request it be checked prior to shipment so that we are sure to get you one with the pivot stud provision.

This engine comes with a flexplate for an automatic transmission but if you have a manual transmission you would need a flywheel for this 1 piece main engine. The two piece main flywheel from your engine will not fit this one. Also you will need a dipstick such as 4915009. The intake manifold on this engine is a high rise and measures 4.65" from the top of the engine block to the carburetor base of the intake. You can compare this measurement to your current intake manifold to determine hood clearance requirements.

What is the holdback on the power for this engine? The motor puts out only 10 HP more than the same motor with the flat tappet hydraulic cam with much less lift and duration. Something is holding the engine back and it doesn't seem to be the cam or the heads or the displacement.

A hydraulic roller camshaft doesn't produce a large amount of power difference as compared to a flat tappet unless the lobe profile or cam specs get into more of a racing category. This engine is designed to give good street manors as well as performance. If an all out search for horsepower is the goal then you are correct, more power can certainly be produced. If you look at horsepower per dollar the flat tappet engine is obviously the winner. Also BluePrint keeps a conservative rating on the power of their engines. Nobody wants to get an engine that makes less power than advertised, but an extra 5, 10, 15 or more will surely make you smile.

The intake manifold from a TBI engine will not fit this one. The center bolt holes were angled differently on the 1987 to 1995 engines. You could use and adapter on the intake of this engine such as 91060118 to bolt a TBI onto it.

We apologize but currently we do not have a serpentine set up with the parts you desire. We do have aluminum pulleys for the V belt that should work fine on the motor in question. For the distributor since going into a T bucket and firewall clearance is minimal our Pertronix distributor number 44710070 would be a good choice for cap size. It is electronic and smaller than the distributor that comes with the engine. If you want to run a control box or not would be up to you. Coil wise 44745002 would be suggested and then the wire set and color for the spark plugs for the socket style cap. For the pulleys number 91015471 and 91015473 would work well with alternator number 91067154 in chrome. For the alternator bracket the low mount have clearance issues with the Vega box or the frame rail. A commonly used one is 91667936 and if you don’t want to go high mount you may want to consider the snug fit Powermaster 91068126. If you think you need spacers we have a water pump shim kit number 54564035 or a lower pulley spacer number 91015721.

10W30 oil of your brand of preference will work great in this engine. The oil filter required is a standard small block Chevy filter such as 91015175 (AC Delco PF1218). For the thermostat we suggest using a 180 degree for most applications. If you live in a cold climate a 190 degree would be best. Any standard Chevy thermostat housing will work with this engine. Below is a list of thermostat housings that we offer. Pick the one that best suits your upper radiator hose routing. 7204788 - Straight forward (angled upward) 7204789 - Angled toward drivers side 91015822 - straight up 91015820 - 45 degree pivoting (can be rotated to point any direction) 91015821 - 90 degree pivoting (can be rotated to point any direction)

This engine will accept your ram horn manifolds just fine. Power wise a long tube header will be a little better and that is what was used when the engines are dyno tested. Your carburetor is similar in size to what is used during testing so I doubt there would be much of a difference there. This engine comes with a 153 tooth flex plate installed on it. If you need a 168 tooth flex plate it would be part number 91048364.

The manifold is a high-flow aluminum intake, along with the gaskets and installation hardware. The chrome dress-up parts add a bright, finishing touch to the 350/290 HP.

Note:  GMPP utilized a Holley 670-cfm carburetor (not included and must be purchased separately, please see suggested carbs below for consideration) to achieve the rated power levels of 290 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 332 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,750 rpm.  

It features four-bolt mains for strength and it’s filled with premium parts, including a smooth hydraulic camshaft and durable aluminum pistons that deliver an 8.5:1 compression ratio—making it a great, time-saving alternative to rebuilding a tired, two-bolt-main core engine.

Projected tip for gasoline. For Brodix and other aftermarket aluminum heads. For most magneto fired ignitions. Sprints and Late Models. 14mm plug, .750" reach, 5/8" hex.

Plug gap will depend on output of distributor and fuel being used. Most applications using methanol will be at .022" - .025". If your ignition sytem is a higher output, maybe able to go as wide as .030". Gas application should be .030" - .035". You should also consult manufacturer of distributor for their recommendations.

Champion Racing Series plugs include all the features of their conventional plugs, but are built with extreme engine conditions and durability in mind.
