Just what the doctor ordered!

I installed an aftermarket speedo head in a 1940 Ford with original tranny. I could not find a speedo cable that would "bolt on". I came across this cable from Speedway and thought I would give it a chance. I'm glad I did!! Worked like a charm. Easily cut to proper length with a set of diagonal pliers. They (Speedway) even supplied the crimpimg tool to put the new end on. Thanks Speedway....Job well done.
Pros:
  • No problem adding new end
  • Easy to work with
  • Cut to length with ease
Yes, I recommend this product.

Speedometer cable 491SP1502U has the standard 5/8 x 18 thread per inch for speedometer end that you will need to verify you have . The opposite end is for the later model years and is installed in the transmission and held in place with the retainer clip and bolt. It has the square drive cable tip. If you have the original Model A speedometer hook up this cable may not work without alteration.

The speedometer end is for speedometers that have a 5/8" x 18 thread male. This is common for most aftermarket and OEM speedometers but you will need to verify. There are some variations throughout the years. The other end at the transmission needs to match the manufacturer and if you have a Ford T5 this would be the correct number. If you have a GM T5 then you would need a 491SP1500U.
