Info

These Bilstein mono tube gas shocks feature digressive valving. This delivers a new level of control by damping slow suspension movements more effectively while not allowing the chassis to be upset by sharp bumps.

Bilstein has set the standard for years in Sprint Cup, Indy Car and Formula 1. Now it is setting the standard for Modifieds, Late Models and Open Wheel.

With the compression and rebound both at 5.5 with this shock, would this be considered a "soft medium or hard" shock?

This 5.5 valving shock would typically be considered a medium valving shock but that would depend somewhat on the weight of the vehicle it is going to be installed on. For a lightweight vehicle around 1500 pounds this would be a fairly stiff valving.
