Q & A

What's in the Box

It doesn't get any simpler than this! Our most basic T-bucket frame is engineered for a simple and economical coil spring rear suspension with traditional-style radius rods. The front suspension is our time-tested transverse-leaf, spring-behind-axle setup with hairpin-style radius rods. Designed for the do-it-yourselfer, this frame has no front shock mounts - you can fabricate your own or choose from those offered by Speedway!

Shown with optional rearend and engine mounts installed. This part number does not include a rear axle housing or engine/transmission mounts (as pictured). If you wish to add these items to your chassis, simply purchase these items along with your frame kit.

All of our T kits are also available with chrome suspension.  This option includes chrome plated: front and rear hairpins, rear coilovers, front axle, front leaf spring, front shocks, steering arms, tie rod, drag link, and related hardware.

The frame and all suspension parts weigh approximately 450 pounds. The body weighs approximately 94 pounds. You can certainly pick up the kit at our facility in Lincoln, NE but you will need to place the order in advance so that we can get it ready for you.

The T bucket kits along with our other kit cars do not come with titles. Once completed it will take a sheriff’s inspection to verify it meet your state requirements and safety factors. Some states categorize as a construction title, kit car title, or POP title. They will assign a VIN and then your licensing department will issue the title. For exact requirements you will need to check with your local DMV and they should have the necessary information to make it a simple process. Make sure to keep an accurate list of parts and serial numbers to prove ownership including all your Speedway Motors receipts.

T-Bucket Assembly Manual
(Part #715900)

This manual shows you how to assemble one of our 1923 T-bucket or 1927 T Roadster kits. It's full of photos and step-by-step instructions to clearly illustrate the assembly process. Manual now includes chapters on installing the engine and drivetrain, preparing and intalling the body, windshield, wiring, and even how to install upholstery.

If you're considering a T-bucket purchase, you can purchase this manual first to see what it takes to build it yourself. The manual's price is fully refundable with the purchase of a 1923 or 1927 T kit.

NOTE:    This manual provides detailed examples on the assembly of a traditional T-bucket.  The manual does not provide in detail the assembly of our Tribute-T, but can be used as a generic reference to cover basic concepts.

T-Bucket Stainless Brake Line Kit
(Part #715800)

Complete your '23 T-Bucket chassis with this pre-bent Stainless Steel brake line kit. Includes all lines, proportioning valve, residual pressure valves, brake pressure switch, fittings, and hardware necessary to properly plumb the brakes on your T.

Notes: Does not work with '27 T chassis.  Also of note, due to unlimited rear axle brake combinations, this kit will not include rear axle housing brake lines, hoses, or fittings.  The kit will include the AN style brake hose to transfer from the rear crossmember to the housing.  The chassis builder/installer will then need to continue the brake line system from that point on to both rear wheels with necessary brake fitting hardware as needed.

Due to the different brakes and caliper combinations, this kit will NOT include caliper/wheel cylinder fittings.

Learn more about the proper uses of residual and proportioning valves and by reading our tech article. Brake System Selection.
