what is the overall diameter of the mounting flange

The O.D. of the trim ring is 4-11/16". The I.D. of the trim ring is 3-5/8" Mount flange is same od as trim ring and bolts in place under trim ting

Can you tell me what the height is from the bottom of the plate to the top of the clamp?

The height from bottom of plate to top of clamp is 1.800"

i want to make as small a hole as possible on this install, how does this mount? does a very large hole get cut and the steel part is inserted into the hole from the engine side of the firewall and the aluminum ring goes on the inside of the car? or does the steel part mount inside the car and the aluminum ring goes on the engine side of the firewall?

Part # 4462400, 2401, and 2402 The manufacturer designs this mount to all go on the inside of the car. Slide the polished ring on the column from the bottom, then the boot, and then the retainer assembly. The retainer slides down to the floor, then the boot, and then the polished ring. Punch holes in the boot material and bolt through the polished ring, boot, and the retainer assembly to install.
