This housing will allow you to put the proven 9" Ford rear axle in your '78-'88 GM Metric chassis. This heavy duty housing has the 3-1/4" x .188 axle tubes and brackets, tig welded for superior strength.

Use with Currie 2-3/8" offset Old Style Big Ford axles (at right).

This rear has multiple lower arm mounting holes and is NOT IMCA Hobby Stock legal. 

  • Stock overall width and pinion offset specs
  • Stock suspension brackets are installed in the stock location for an easy bolt in installation
  • Polyurethane upper control arm bushings are installed in the upper control arm housing brackets
  • 1978-1981 Chevy Malibu
  • 1978-1988 Chevy Monte Carlo
  • 1978-1988 Chevy El Camino
  • 1978-1981 Buick Century
  • 1978-1987 Buick Regal
  • 1978-1982 Pontiac Le Mans
  • 1978-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix
  • 1978-1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass
  • 1978-1987 GMC Caballero
  • Housing width: 52-7/8"
  • Total width (axles installed, hub face-to-hub face): 57-5/8"
  • Housing tubing is .188" wall with 3-1/4" O.D.
  • Uses "big Ford - old style" ends on the axle tubes

Axle lengths required:
  • (1) EA 26-15/16"
  • (1) EA 29-3/8"
