Q & A

What's in the Box

This universal steel bracket is designed to mount reversed Corvair steering boxes onto a variety of chassis using "traditional" style Ford steering. Works well with T-Buckets. Bracket measures 4" tall from the top of the frame to the steering box mounting surface.
  • Heavy gauge steel construction
  • Stylish lightening holes lend competition feel
  • Works with Corvair steering boxes
  • Welding required
  • Steering Box NOT Included

Note: There is a tightening tolerance when installing this mount. All three bolts must be started (threaded partially) into the holes before final tightening/securing of application. If installed with only one bolt tightened at a time, mounting holes will not line up properly.

Very Expensive and Hole dont line up for

May 08, 2013
I bought this mount with my Corvair steering box. Both I got from Speedway Motors along with many other parts. First I started to install the steering box on the mount only to find that only 2 of the 3 holes lined up. Despite the steering box mount holes being drilled larger than the 3/8" bolt being used to mount the box. Next I test fitted this mount on my Model A frame only to find that it is notched way to much and was off by 5 inches from the steering shaft hole in the firewall on a 1929Model A...! Also thought that $80 was very expensive for just 2 pieces of metal tig welded together especially since nothing lines up!
Pros:
  • grade 8 bolts
Cons:
  • off by 5" from steering shaft hole
  • don't line up box with steering shaft on model a
  • holes not lined up for steering box
  • Expensive
No, I would not recommend this product.
