Q & A

What's in the Box

This is the best flaring tool for the money we have found. It has a feed screw with a hardened flaring cone eccentrically mounted in needle bearings which produces a rolling action for even metal flow. This provides uniform wall thickness without galling. It will put a 37 degree flare in 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, ½”, 5/8” and 3/4” tubing. We recommend this tool when flaring 3/16” stainless steel brake line.

  • Provides smooth, uniform flares with minimum effort
  • Feed screw handle requires less motion and effort than standard handle
  • Flares steel, stainless steel, hard copper and brass thru wall thickness of .035"

Good Value Good Tool

February 18, 2015
Bought this tool to flare some stainless steel brake lines. I'm doing a brake tuck where the lines will all be hidden in the fire wall and this tool has been making some GOOD flares. There are some tricks to working with stainless so you can't just expect this tool to do all of the work for you. Shaving and heating go a loooooong way in making perfect flares in stainless. About 10 flares done so far and I'm happy with the purchase.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Yes this tool works great for flaring tubing for 37 degree AN fittings. Stainless tubing larger than 1/4" may be an issue unless the tubing has been annealed.

Ridgid's own website states that "..it will flare steel, stainless steel, hard copper, and brass thru wall thickness of .035 inches.." So the only restriction for SS should be the wall thickness and not the OD.

Although I haven’t had anybody try stainless that size, this tool should be 37 degree flaring tool, part number: 91089524, up to 5/8 stainless. I don’t have the wall thickness limitations on this tool.

Deluxe Flaring Tool, 37 Degree AN
(Part #91089528)

This is the tool you need to make the 37° flares required for AN fittings. Standard brake and fuel lines are flared at 45° which are not compatible with AN hardware. This tool forms stronger flares assured by a smooth, even radius formed at base of every flare with its precision machined chamfer. Plus, it's also self gauging - just insert tube flush with top of die for accurate flare size.

  • Hardened steel, chrome-finished cone makes exceptionally smooth, high-strength flares with a radius at base of
flare – instead of the sharp angle formed by ordinary tools
  • Slip-on yoke permits use in tight quarters
  • Allows flaring where there is little space between nut and tube end
  • Feed screw design provides smooth, easier operation
  • Positive gripping and self-gauging of tube for exact flare size
  • Sliding die blocks lock in place by clamp action

Works on 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" OD tubing such as aluminum, copper, brass and mild steel.

Stainless Steel Brake Line, 3/16 Inch
(Part #6178510)

Our 3/16" stainless steel tubing is made from 304 grade (rated at 6000 psi) which is double annealed to allow easy flaring.

NOTE: This line is intended to be used in conjunction with 37 degree AN # 3 style fittings which make use of a single flare. Stainless steel line will not work with 45 degree double flare 3/8"-24 flare nuts. We strongly suggest that the 37 degree single flare (flaring tool # 910-89524) be used when flaring this line for the AN # 3 tube nuts and sleeves.

Stainless Steel -3 AN Brake Line Kit, 3-Hose, 40 Ft. Tubing
(Part #6178535)

Speedway Motors is again the industry leader by offering a 100% stainless steel brake line kit. We know you don't want to cut corners on something as important as the brake system. Brake fluid and moisture in the brake lines and fittings are highly corrosive and attack softer metals.

Why settle for the anodized aluminum fittings offered by other companies? We start with 3/16" stainless steel tubing of 304 grade (rated at 6000 psi) that is double annealed to allow easy flaring. Then, we offer a variety of fittings made of 303 grade semi-polished stainless for the most corrosion resistant line kit in the industry! Not all fittings are polished, but with a little elbow grease you can have beautiful brake lines.

Designed for conventional live axle rear suspensions. Includes two 20 foot coils of 3/16" stainless steel line, nineteen -3 AN tube nuts, nineteen -3 AN tube sleeves, two -3 AN bulkhead tees, six -3 AN to 1/8"NPT adapters, two 90° -3 AN to 1/8" NPT adapters, one -3 AN straight bulkhead fitting, two -3 AN to 1/8" NPT female thru-frame fittings with stainless jam nuts, three -3 AN 18" braided stainless lines, and three 3/8" bulkhead nuts.

617-8535 Instructions (PDF)

NOTE: These kits are designed to use 37 degree flares only. Do not attempt to use with standard inverted flare brake connectors, which are 45 degree.
