This dual-purpose hardened steel tool serves a both a rotating tool and balancer retainer. It simply fits into the harmonic balancer on Small Block Chevys and provides a positive way of rotating the engine (in either direction) when setting valves, locating TDC or degreeing cam. It is permanently retained on the motor serving as a balancer washer/bolt assembly to retain the balancer/damper on the crank.

Tool has a 1-1/16" hex head. Instuctions included.

Wouldn't build another SBC without it!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This part is so well made, it should be sold with every performance balancer. It allows you to set the torque on the crankshaft centerbolt, and safely turn the engine for setting valve lash and finding top dead center. The bolt is a 12 point, and is extremely high quality. The black finish show quality. The outer nut/washer is large enough to hold a wrench on with no hands. It lets you turn the engine 45 degrees, set a valve, and then turn it again without having to pull the wrench off each time.
