Easier to buy than fabricate

September 30, 2013
If I had to fabricate these it would have taken a lot of time and effort. Just take them out of the box install and put in the 350 cu. in. sm block. Now all I have to do is put the body back together.
Cons:
  • could be a little cheaper
Yes, I recommend this product.

In most cases you will need to modify the drive shaft to obtain the correct length when doing an engine swap.

Are these adapters compatible with a manual transmission I want to use these adapters with a 2 wheel drive S10 4.3l equipped with the factory 5 speed NV3500 tranny. I understand these adapters are made to use with a TH350 auto. Will I be able to make these adapters work with the 5speed?

You can use these adapter plates along with the required mounts part number 7204218 to swap a small block Chevy V8 into your S10 utilizing the factory 4.3 frame mounts. You could use your 5 speed but some additional modifications would be required.

For mounting the V8 in your S10 you will need adapter kit number 7204691 along with the V6 motor mounts number 7204218. You will also need the V6 frame mounts available at salvage yards or your GM dealer. The 4 cylinder frame mounts will NOT work. For coil spring use you could get OEM springs for the 4.3 with air and that would handle the small block transplant. We do offer dropped springs in 2 or 3 inch under number 91782551 or 91782552.

Speedway part number 7204691. These S10 conversion motor mount plates can be used with our part number 7204218 motor mounts, which will bolt up to the original 4.3L V6 frame mounts.

Now, I know it says 2WD, but what is it that would cause these not work for a 4WD truck, if anything?

This V8 swap kit is designed for the 2wd chassis and with enough modification to your existing frame and front drive components it would be possible to make it work on a 4wd vehicle. It is designed for simple installation with no cutting or modifications to the existing chassis and suspension on 2wd vehicles only.

How much do these brackets move the three bolt holes for the engine mounts? Depending on the way they are bolted on to the engine, they should move the engine forward, or back the distance of the mounting holes. I'm working on a '32 Graham, whoever welded

Center to center on the spacing variance for the mounts is 4 ½” center to center and the slotted portion will allow for ½” in either direction front to rear.

Part # 7204691 These engine swap plates utilize the stock 4.3 V6 mount and frame stands. The motor mounts are offered under part number 7204218 but you will need to obtain the frame mounts or stands from your local salvage yard or GM supplier. If your ’83 had a V6 it was probably a 2.8 and the frame mounts are different from the later 4.3 mounts.
