Front end rebuild

May 19, 2013
Great parts except for the center link, which should be labeled NOT for Early 1964. In order to use this part with the orig pitman arm, you must use a 5/8 taper drill and ream out the pitman arm. Other than that it works great.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Inner tie rods are incorrect.

October 26, 2012
The inner tie rods have the grease fitting on the back side of the joint, not on the end like original. Grease fittings will hit cross member and cannot be greased after installing, if you get that far.
Cons:
  • get what you pay for.
No, I would not recommend this product.

Would Recommend.

March 07, 2010
Was very impressed at the price and completeness of the kit. As another mentioned before, some of the nuts and bolts are a mix of metric and standard? At least I had to use a metric wrench on the tie rod sleeve adjuster and everything else seemed to be standard sizing. Oh well! Fit good, drives awesome! I didn't know the Chevelle could ride so tight!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Value, Some Issues with Hardware

January 23, 2010
Speedway has done a good job of putting everything together to make a complete kit. The price was very competative. There was a problem with the hardware, but it was easy to change out with common bolts available from [...].
Pros:
  • Fit okay
  • Complete for Upgrade
  • Good Value
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a 65 Pontiac Lemans with power steering. The steering pitman arm is much too small for this kit. What size of pitman arm do I need? Or can the original pitman arm be drilled out with a tapered bit? If so what size?

The best would be to take the pitman arm to a machinist and have him ream it to the correct size and taper of Chevelle kit. Before doing this make sure the idler arm in the kit is the same length as your original as there were two options in steering gears and corresponding parts. If not the same you will need a different pitman arm to keep the steering geometry correct.

My pitman arm (65 Pontiac Lemans power steering) is too small to fit the end on the center link. My understanding is that Pontiac had 2 options for steering. What pitman arm will work for this kit? Will I also need to get a new idler arm as well?

On the 64-67, there were two steering ratios mating to different pitman arm lengths. If the idler arm is the correct length as your existing pitman arm then you can have it reamed correctly by your local machinist. If your pitman arm is a different length from the idler arm in the kit then if you can get the dimensions to us, we will be glad to review for necessary length and availability of correct pitman arm.
