Not impressed

October 12, 2015
My engine has the almost identical thermostat housing ( both made in Taiwan )and I couldn't get it to stop leaking around the base. So I ordered this new housing and installed it with a thicker gasket than came with it with permatex and it leaked worse than my original. Upon inspection I found that the bases on both housings were not flat, if you put the on a flat plate they would rock back and forth. I took my old one and using a statioary belt sander simply sanded the base flat, it no longer leaks. I returned the new one and of course had to pay the shipping again.
No, I would not recommend this product.

This product not as shown in Catalog.

The catalog shows this product as taking a gasket. When received a gasket was included, but there was a cutout on the bottom for an O ring. We were replacing a product like this one because we could not make it stop leaking, even with the gasket. If this is the only way this product is made the catalogue description should state for use with O ring "OR" gasket. I have purchased a new thermostat that only takes a gasket.
No, I would not recommend this product.

No this water neck uses a gasket to seal it up. Part number 7209228 is cut for an o-ring and no gasket is required.
