Will this work with a manual steering car? I have a 1957 chevy wagon that had power steering that I'm taking out and doing manual steering. Will this work for manual steering or is the geometry wrong because it's for power steering? Thank you

Yes, this is the correct idler for manual steering. Use this idler with the manual pitman arm (with the ball stud built into the pitman arm). Do not use this idler with the pitman arm that does not have a ball stud built in. There is no such thing as a V8 or six cylinder pitman or idler. The only difference in the pitman and idler are with or without FACTORY power steering. The engine makes no difference. This idler can be used with AFTERMARKET power steering gears that require the manual linkage.

The idler arm and pitman arm need to create the proper geometry. If you have the lazy S shape V8 pitman arm for manual it will not work in conjunction with idler arm for power steering. Now, if you have the 6 cylinder pitman arm it is referenced as working with the power steering idler arm.
