What's in the Box

Included in this kit is a new 500 series power steering box, new centerlink, new pitman and idler arm. Modification of the original steering column is required. Use 910-32460 (1955-56) or 910-32462 (1957) to convert the stock column for use with this kit. This is a straight bolt-on conversion when using our Ididit columns.

The top splines on the steering box are 3/4"-30.

When using this power steering kit the side mounts part number 7204175 or 91018055 along with a rear transmission cross member number 91628910 work excellent together and clear the power steering kit with the V8 pitman arm. Ididit column part numbers 4451255, 4461455 or 4461257 will work with the cross over and also are offered in chrome as just a few of the examples. Tilt columns use 1” double D and in those cases a U-joint number 91032393 or rag joint number 4465231 will be needed. If you get a column with a shifter then we offer a rag joint number 4463431 to mate to the ¾ x 36 on the column. All of this would be a direct bolt in and top it with the steering wheel of choice.

Speedway part number 91032570. That power steering conversion would use 2 power steering hoses if you are using a factory style GM power steering pump. One pressure line, and one return line. Our part number 91032509 would work with that kit.

Does the whole column need to be replaced when installing this kit? I have a 57 belair with a small block in it, I saw that it says you have to use a coupler but doesn't say anything about the column in the instructions

On your 57 if all original the inner column shaft goes into the gearbox and has the gear made on the end of it. When using kit number 91032570 the simplest fix is to use kit number 91032462 for the column conversion and then the rag joint number 91032416. Other options would be to use a U-joint in place of the rag joint and alter and modify the existing column to simulate the column kit 91032462.
