What's in the Box

These Speedway headers allow you to keep the exhaust system under your '55-'57 Chevy car. The "3/4-length" design provides more ground clearance than full-length headers, yet makes more power than "shorty" style headers. These chassis headers fit 283-400 S/B Chevy V8s and has 1-5/8" primary tubes with 2-1/2" collectors. These ceramic coated headers provide superior performance and durability.

  • Mid-length design offers maximum ground clearance
  • Designed to work with stock or 605 power steering box
  • Fits cars using an original V-8 pitman arm (some aftermarket arms may cause an interference)
  • Will work with side engine mounts with engine in stock location
  • Fits standard and Vortec-style small-block Chevy heads (not D-port, LT-1 or ZZ-4)
  • Does not work with stock clutch linkage
  • (Please use the chart below to help with dimensions.) Drivers side A dimension is 3-1/2" up by the head and 5-5/8" at the collector, B dimension is 15", and C dimension is 21".  Passenger side A dimension is 4" at the head and 6-5/8" at the collector, B is 15", and C is 21".

NOTE:  These headers do not fit angle-plug heads. They do work with a "605"steering box.  They work with most any bellhousing and most any motor mounts.  Some aftermarket starters may be in the way.  Designed to fit cars using an original V-8 pitman arm.  Some aftermarket arms may cause an interference.

Notes

Armor Hot Coating (AHC) is a heat resistant, ceramic coating applied to the outside of the header. This coating will reflect heat, which helps retain more heat within the header tube while simultaneously speeding up the exhaust flow. Not only will this coating help you make more horsepower, it also keeps your headers rust-free, looking great, and lasting longer (when properly maintained).  If you are looking for a show-quality finish for your headers, this is it! Our AHC will withstand exhaust temperatures of up to 1300®® F.

Warranties

AHC Warning: AHC coatings will burn and be damaged at exhaust temperatures over 1300 degrees. A lean fuel mixture can generate exhaust temperatures exceeding 1700-1900 degrees. If the coating is damaged due to a lean condition, the coating will not be warranted, but can be recoated for a fee.

Not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled vehicles

I love these headers. They said that they are made for a 57 Chevy . I put them on and they fit like a glove. The coating on them gives my car that show quality look which I was after . So all in all I am completely satisfied with this product. And thanks for the fast shipping.

Great set Of headers!!

I bought this set with all my parts in mind, original clurch linkage, aftermarket starter custom motor mounts, you name I had it. I had to install the driver's side from under the car, remove the bell crank clutch linkage and dipstick but after they were installed, they fit!! I couldn't belive how well they fit!! These things might not flow like my other set I had but the cars on airbags and I needed everything inside the chassis. Highly recommend!!

GREAT for a 57 Chevy

Everyone has had headers that DON'T fit and they aren't any fun. This pair was perfect, I got them for my own car and they went on so easily we ordered a second pair for my dad's shop car. My only wish is that they came in stainless, although the coating looks gorgeous...

These headers work with nearly every motor mount and with the 700 trans will be o.k. as long as the shift linkage has clearance or you have a floor shift. Has clearance for stock steering box and even the 605 power steering box. Does require a stock V8pitman arm.

These should fit your 56 with the following restrictions: - Designed to work with stock steering box or 605 power steering box - Fits cars using an original V-8 pitman arm (some aftermarket arms may cause an interference) - Will work with side engine mounts with engine in stock location - Does not work with stock clutch linkage - These headers do not fit angle-plug heads

No these will not fit with your stock clutch linkage. Otherwise if you wanted to change to a hydraulic clutch these should work then. You would need to have the original V8 pitman arm on the steering box as well.

Header set number 930C7H meet the fit requirements except for rack and pinion clearances. Depending on the rack conversion you have many such as the Unisteer conversion which have the shaft to the column directly at the headers. One set that has helped us out in these cases is number 930C5H which are specific for the tri-5 with rack and pinion. We have dimensions listed for both of these sets of headers that you may want to check to verify fit.

Yes these headers will fit with the stock steering box and original V8 pitman arm with the engine mounted in stock location.

Tri-5 headers number 930C7H will work with a small block V8 Chevy if in the stock location. With the engine slid forward for HEI clearance you may have clearance issues with the steering components. Also the V8 style pitman arm is required for full turning radius without oil pan interference.

The 55-57 Chevy cars had 2 types of pitman arms, a power steering version and a manual steering version. These headers should work with an original setup, or a 605 steering box. They will also work with side engine mounts and a rear transmission mount.

NOTE: Stainless header tubing when exposed to exhaust temperature will cause the finish to change color which will vary with the exhaust temperature. Please note that the finish of the header when the engine is started, will change to a light champagne color to a darker gold finish and in some instance may even turn dark blue or purple. This can be polished back out when utilizing Blue-away or Simi-chrome polish, but please note that when the headers reach running temperature again, they will immediately change color.
